Didn't realize the person from the previous thread finally got into the final coil. Congrats to himThere are a number of reasons why there are fan communities that operate away from official forums. Would you like me to spell out to you why that is?
And as for what became of the OP?

Seems pretty successful to me.![]()

It's okay, every time someone bumps this, it's more exposure for someone's plight with the potential of someone helping ~.^
And for people who are wishing to get into statics, one of the best ways to help is to give them more exposure and see if any one has openings for them. While this is quite luck dependent, but if a player posts on the OF, Reddit, fansites, etc. and the thread is continually bumped over a period of time, it helps them out indirectly.
So much false self-indignation and putting word in my posts that I've never even written. Find a post where I've ever written that. If by simply pointing to the facts and these threads being the evidence themselves gives you that impression, that is not my doing. And there is no positive evidence that the FCoB groups even looked in these forums and extended an invitation to help anyone.
Contrast that with threads when people ask for FCs to join or servers to switch to. Those threads get a lot of people offering and all sorts of people trying to play up their FC or server.

there is no evidence that you can see. also, your "facts" are not facts. case in point: the other thread where vygun made it into final coil. you tried to downplay the help he got. really? people point someone on how to do something, and then you turn around and say "oh hey, he probably didnt need the forums anyway." said it before and saying it again; the official forums are not the only way people find parties.
Free bumps for exposure!
I'll just quote one line from your own wall of texts in regards to that one point.
Just because there's no positive evidence doesn't prove that there is no evidence of a positive outcome.
In fact, we now have a stream of the guy who created this thread that you repeatedly use as evidence that the end game community is far and large unhelpful and belligerent actually INSIDE T11. That seems like positive evidence to me.
Do we know the facts of what happened? No. Therefore neither you can claim that the OF DID NOT help the poster nor can the other side claim that OF DID in fact help the poster. All we know is that advice was given and he was able to find a group in the end. What's important though, is that this particular player succeeded in getting his goal to get into final coil.
Once again, I'll bring this up to you.
Though I will say this, with your infamy on the forums, at least posts like these will stay on the front page for quite a few days with this kind of back and forth banter and thus keep the OP exposed to any potential help other players can offer. Dat silver lining.Instead of badgering people on multiple threads about being "unhelpful", you can lead by example and actually actively ask the OP if they would like to come to Faerie to join you and other like minded individuals to help new players out. You can progress into final coil while spending off raid nights helping new players out.
Just food for thought.
With that said.
Free bumps for exposure again! =D
That is true. But neither can you say that positive outcome is because of FCoB groups/static looking in these forums and extending the invitation or tryouts. Compare to threads where people ask about FCs or server, the contrast is very stark, because all sorts of people try to get people to join their FC or server. And you can see the tone from the posts see:

first and foremost, for the one that was posted 1 hour prior to your own post, its 3 in the morning in EU at the time of his post. Zero Duncan posted in multiple threads, and you for some reason decided to use the one with no replies. here is another one with replies. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ing-for-static! the only one that is even close to being ignored is the pearsons one, but from the sounds of it, he is pugging coil to continue progressing. there is also the chance that he is using pf to advertise.http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...erver+transfer

as for the fc ones, one of them is from almost a full year ago(when the game was still fresh). the one in general discussion is in the highest visability part of the forum, general discussion. of course people are going to reply. the last one about Aureus Knights is over a year ago started. not only that, but the website and intro are put together well. the fact that people are still replying in that thread should show that as a whole, that FC does what they say they will do and help everyone out.

Thanks a lot for all of the posts, guys. I'll try some of the methods mentioned here, although it's not like I haven't ever tried them before. I've sat in a PF for hours just to have no one join, and for the past week or so I've logged in to wait in DF for Turn 5 and haven't even gotten in the instance. I recognize that this is because I'm very behind on content and everyone is already up to the higher Turns, but it's difficult to catch up when the only people still running T5 in DF are the ones that can't clear it.
As far as proving myself, what Ai Hana said about not having a chance to is accurate. When I used to run stuff with my FC the people further along than me were impressed that I was a fast learner and could play my class well, but that didn't really come to anything as far as a group for raiding goes.
Some nice people on my server did invite me to their linkshell though, so that might help me find people.
Thanks again, I really appreciate all of the responses.
