can we please talk about character customization options?

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post2609994

Q20: Can you add a lot more hairstyles, facial hair, and other types of face paints?

A20: ...We previously added new face paint in the past, but we didn’t really receive much feedback as to whether they were good or bad, so we’ve been allocating our resources to adding hairstyles...

You didn't receive much feedback because we've been requesting new, generalized face-paints... but you gave us two halloween-specific face-paints instead...

A nice gesture, they're fun, but who is going to wear bats on their face YEAR ROUND? We didn't ask for face-paints we'll dust off once a year (albeit, some players may wear these face-paints for longer).

We want features that can enhance the RP experience or that would look cool, not children's carnival face-paint. We want better beard/stache options & more.

So because we didn't provide you feedback, you just up and decided to put your main effort's into hairstyles?

You really need to begin polling your player-base again.

Or at least, can we please at least sometimes have a dialogue about things? Sometimes you ask for our feedback? Sometimes ask us what we want?

I know I speak for many when I say: we want more than very few haircuts once in a while, more diversity at least, more character customization options in general...

    Refer to this thread:

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ut#post2463143

Please reconsider your direction & understand we want you to do more than simply focus on hairstyles.

Also, please change your mind about removing glamour restrictions... it's COMPLETELY INEQUITABLE that tanks can wear all kinds of armor-types (robes) but mages can't wear virtually anything but cloth.

People have been asking for new beards for a while now too... please reconsider your focus.

I would like it if a freckles option was added to facial features instead of face paint~ Its a little silly that I can't have eye make up AND freckles.

or just let us choose more than one option from that set.

Not to be fighty but if you consider tanks are physically strong it would allow them to wear all armor types where technically no other class could (so long as there was no magical requirement a tank may not meet). Tanks, the most fashionable class. It is a bit weird in ARR since it no longer has a favored class system like 1.0 (and they seem to have some inconsistencies for jobs) but ... I'd rather they stay strict than not. Also a tank could wear gear under a robe going back to the physical strength is really the determinate if we thought real life at least, while mages could not wear full platemail since they weren't as strong.

(Thats a very loose argument though, would have worked better if it was more like a D2 "Requires 55 Strength to equip").

But, I would not give a hoot if they added a toggle system. Glamor anything and everything, let me turn it off - you wont make me cry and turn into a big immersive baby.

No no, it's a fair thing to discuss.

Thing is: we're the same exact person despite switching Jobs.

So if I'm capably strong enough to be a tank, then I should be able to wear tank armor as a mage.

And just what strength does it take for a mage to wear an open shirt or a pair of kecks?

I'm saying that tanks tend to have qualities to the weight of armor, mages do not. Hence the stats (check your tank's strength vs mage's). "There exists a mage that wears armor" does little to what I was implying. Also I was most particularly saying that people complaining tanks can wear robes does not make sense to me, if we were talking logic tanks could wear everything because there is nothing special to wearing robes (unless as I said some magic requirement or you die.. lol, some lore). SE isn't using all logic though, its more of a few desires that they lean towards with a gray scale.

But again a lot of the argument relies on consistent mechanics which SE doesn't really have so I admitted it was kind of a loose interpretation of armor and classes.

Of course Papa responded that you're the same hero in both occasions, gameplay wise I don't think that is quite true but it is certainly lore wise so lol (so as in the first post and below, bottom line "I like some structure, if others want none then a system that allows both is preferred).

    No idea :P

Like I said in the post, it was a loose argument. What I imagine SE sees is based around a few pillars of truth that are more like bendy flag men. They have a general iconic image they strive for and certain pillars can bend.

Third time for clarity the response was more to be quaint and "Tanks able to wear robes makes more sense then mages wearing platemail" - I know SE hasn't be most consistent in "ability to wear" but regardless of that I prefer SE to stay at least semi-restrictive, or a toggle.

A suit of plate armour evenly distributes the weight around your body and is actually surprisingly easy to wear. If you have the strength to heft a staff around like crazy, you can wear at least light plate armour without much difficulty.

But like, say I want to play a healer that's a front-line battlefield medic with armour for protection, rather than some back-line robe-wearing healer. That should really be an option if tanks can wear heavy armour or robes as they see fit (FFXI had a WHM-equippable haubergeon as a token offering for mage armour, even).
