In-Game FPS Bottlenecks plaguing ALL platforms ALL PC builds

    Hello,
I have played FFXIV ARR on and off since its release and have noticed serious coding deficiencies in certain parts of the game, here are the various rigs I have owned and played with since the game came out:

    i5 2500K - 3.0GHz
    Asus Motherboard
    256GB Corsair SSD
    8GB DDR2
    Win 7 x64
    Nvidia 760GTX x 2

    i7 3770K - 3.3GHz
    Asus Motherboard
    256GB Corsair SSD
    16GB DDR2
    Nvidia 780GTX x 2
    Win8.1 x64

    i7 4790K - 4.0GHz
    Asus Sabertooth Mark1 Motherboard
    512GB Samsung 850 SSD
    16GB DDR3
    Nvidia 980GTX x 2
    Win 8.1 x64

All three rigs played with (2560x1440) or 3K HD. All rigs have a serious drop in FPS in towns with a crystal nearby.

My latest rig with 980GTX SLI should never see 45 FPS, yet it does in Mor'Dhana.

A good bit of it is bound to issues with the DX9 API---much of which should be remedied by the DX11 update. |Please look forward to it!|

I think in the last Live Letter, they plan on releasing a video showing us the difference between Direct X 9 and 11 this weekend at the Tokyo Fan Festival! :-)

. . . . please google this, its not an ffxiv issue, its an mmo issue.

My latest rig with 980GTX SLI should never see 45 FPS, yet it does in Mor'Dhana.
all mmo's are cpu hungry when lots of player character models and effects are in view, high level api's and mmo's = processor intensive, theres just too many objects and changes happening in realtime that are occuring and hitting api object per batch limits.

DX9 has high object and state change overhead, and lacks the ability to multithread the renderer without creating additional batch latency.

a move to dx11 will reduce the object and state change overhead and provide the ability to multithread and certain graphics processing to particular cores.

Definitely a CPU bottleneck. On a busy evening just up the hill before the fork, I get around 47 FPS when there's a lot of action. This is with 2 x GTX680, a 4K monitor, and a 3930K overclocked to 4.3 GHz on 6 cores. This is without nerfing the graphics, and the GPU fans are still not running flat out.
