I'd honestly rather Esuna. Being able to Esuna myself and others would be just <3

I would love some white magic for PLD but PLD exclusive. I would be disappointed to see cure on PLD with the same WHM cure animation. It doesn't add anything to the feel (for me that is).
Maybe we'll get some in 3.0.
The main reason not to cross-class Cure currently is lack of Mind and Spell Speed.
If tank gear existed that boosted Mind and Spell Speed while also covering the Vit and Strength needs of a Paladin I'd cross-class Cure over bloodbath in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I wish our CNJ cross class stuff came through a bit better. I made a comment back before the rerelease that I kinda hoped in the future we'd see job traits that alter the cross class abilities we have access to. Like a trait that makes a paladins protect autocover folks protected by it if they ever drop below 35% hp, giving folks a choice of which version of protect they want...or that a paladins stoneskin has a "spikes" effect while its up, returning a bit of damage to the enemy that attacks it...or that a paladins bloodbath heals not only him, but those around him for the amount of damage the paladin is doing. Things to make them different than the base class and what it gets from it.
I don't know, I just think there are plenty of "White magic-ish" abilities that could emphasis the whole "protection and stability" thing Paladins have going. Just a matter of getting them. I do know I don't want just another "Reduces damage by X% for Y seconds" type ability though.

Pretty much this.I do know I don't want just another "Reduces damage by X% for Y seconds" type ability though.
I wouldn't mind a paladin healing spell that scales with Physical Damage, STR, and Det. Give it a decent cooldown and some special effects.

Something like this. I think the cure (as cast by the PLD) should be stronger at lvl 50 than it is now. It doesn't need to be awesome for survival, it just needs to be strong enough such that you could justify casting it ever.450~ cures I think would be perfectly reasonable, that's about half the effectiveness of stoneskin and would be over the effectiveness of stoneskin during convalesence. That fits the MP cost and while it wouldn't be enough to make you self-sufficient for heals it would definitely make your survivability go up.
More party support would be more awesome, reason why cure wouldnt work is that it would need insta-cast proc from Riot to be usefull while tanking. Now if we would get skill like that Testudo pvp skill that beats both lvl1 and 2 tank LB's i would be more than happy :P

If we had a Holy Oath similar to Shield Oath and Sword Oath which allowed physical damage to be treated as magical as well, then cure would be under-powered but still scale with our weapons. We still wouldn't have WHM level due to lack of mind, but then we get more options for future melds/gear. The trade-off with the Shield Oath loss would be made up for with reactive curing. Lack of enmity boost would be made up for enmity generated from curing. Would make 4 man runs more versatile and we could swap between oaths depending on the situation.

One issue I could see "decent" healing on tank causing would be unnecessary overhealing by the healer(s). I could see it being more an issue at lower levels but it's still something that should be considered.
I would take more mit over a better heal. Like you said ss is good but I don't want to have to throw a heal in also
