Honestly, I think this falls into the category Boxers or briefs?
Personally, when I go to the beach I'm a surf shorts kinda guy. IDK about you but I wouldn't walk around in swim shorts that look like briefs or speedos.

Well maybe the swim suits don't make Elzen look masculine, but at least the pose does.....
Oh, I'm so sorry, I just saw the pose.
You have my sympathy.
Well at least for now you don't have to worry about being an Elvaan male Dancer in full AF, it's why I didn't pick Elzen, well that and all there animations are feminine, which would be fine if you're playing a female character....
Maybe Yoshi-P has a secret BDSM fetish...
10/14/11 - FFXIV community civil war erupts. "I'm paying and the game is gonna be awesome." VS. "I'm leaving and the game is gonna die." Let the battles begin!
Appreciate the response, but it's not at all the type of thing that has to be exclusionary of either gender.Checked with Yoshi-P. He said “We will aim for an event next year that will also prominently feature our male adventurers, too! But would everyone really be happy with a summer event focused on male characters?” and then he laughed.
You're quite right, of course. I'm pretty sure he didn't mean to offend though, and was simply asking for "regular" type swimsuits. You don't look like a gay parade. You can't look gay. You can look feminine and that's what it looks like. Please get that out of your system of looking gay.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet. I heard a lot of talk about making male tops invisible, but wouldn't it make just as much sense (or more) to combine the upper and lower underwear slots into a single underwear slot? It can cover as needed.
And personally, I would like my swim shorts better if I didn't have a Lala-butt-crack staring at me. That is my only beef with it.
(Fundoshi) (Do you need it?)
FFXI says hi...we all remembered what happened to the DNC class (on the male side anyway)
(I mean come on, what guy swims with a tank top equivalent when at the beach?)

I would first like to say that this comment is SPOT ON most of the time. There are too many situations where people use the word "gay" when they actually want to describe something as feminine. The problem with this situation is that these swimsuit, as disturbing as I find this personally, were intentionally included to add more sexuality to the game. I am sure anyone who scans the forums will remember the "can we get more sexiness?" threads to which there was a positive Dev response. So in conclusion this is a matter of sexual attraction and not one of pure gender.
For an experiment, Try duplicating one of the male swimsuits and see how many women and men you are able to pick up at the beach. The results might indicate which sex the swimsuit is intended to attract.
The major point is that some of us would like to enjoy seasonal events without having to sexualize of characters in the process. If you like to have "time alone" with your character then that's your thing. I'm not gonna hate. But it would be nice for SE to include a Non-sexual version of events for those of us who don't.

Real men wear full plate while swimming. That being said, as a male player, I'm not particularly excited to receive the rewards for myself. The ONLY reason I've seen any actual excitement to wear them is from people who enjoy wearing Subligars as joke, or male players that like/used to effeminate clothing. I went and got one, of course, but it doesn't mean I actually enjoy wearing it.
I agree with you. I think the main point here is having the choice. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be covered up or a 'stuffy victorian' as haters would say. Likewise, there's nothing wrong with being sexy, or 'slutty' as the haters would say. It's our character, it's our choice, it's their personality. The main gripe for me is my character would not wear a swimsuit like this. No, that doesn't make me a 'prude' I just, personally, find it too sexy and a bit boring at the same time. The major point is that some of us would like to enjoy seasonal events without having to sexualize of characters in the process.
