The problem is that this change will, in SE's own words, make nearly all gear come from instanced events. Instanced events are great, but they seem to be hell bent on destroying rewarding open world content with this change. We dont know yet how exactly it will work so why should we say no?
Making a thread to question changes or to indicate that there are problems and discuss about it is fine. But why make a thread (and this isnt even the first one about this matter) for every single change the devs are trying to make before you even know what exactly they are doing and how it will impact the game in a long time frame, rather then the first week rage how everything sucks.
When the change it, try it out. If it doesnt work at all for at least 50% of playerbase then make a vote thread. If it has problems/bugs report them. If you dont like it, then check how important this feature is for yourself. If it is important then quit the game before wasting more time.
Well im not sure if "nearly all" is the same as "more" and we will have to see how much they want the game to be instanced. I prefer open world more too, but a good mix of both is nice too.
But that doesnt change the fact to saying no to content that isnt out yet and we dont have any more informations than 2-3 sentences.
Thats why im saying too calm down post doubts and discuss changes that happened, changes that you want to see and changes that are coming in the future.
Do you know that Guildleves are instanced events?
Just because the word "Instance" is used, it doesn't always mean "private zone"
Behest is another "Instanced event"
Mobs that can been seen and engaged only by players currently active in the event. If open world NMs were somehow done in this fashion would you still be against an "no claim" system?

NM already function in this manner. It can be such that the claim system works differently with different styles of monsters (normal vs NM for example).
This is actually currently implemented to some degree - it is possible to heal/buff folk who are in combat with standard monsters, but if you attempt to heal or buff someone outside your party when they are engaged with a NM it tells you that you can not as they are currently engaged with an enemy.
I'm well aware of what instanced content is. I know it's not all dungeons.Do you know that Guildleves are instanced events?

However, open world content isn't defined only by being content available in the open world. It's content that has no level requirements, no class requirements, no party size requirements, open for everyone to do at any given time without any prerequisites, etc, etc. It's quite different compared to most instanced content.
The problem with the new system is that any new open world content would be impossible to balance and keep it difficult, unless the difficulty scales as more players engage (highly unlikely).
The probability of player griefing is very real. To combat this, SE would pretty much be forced to make all open world content simple tank & spank encounters, no special abilities triggered by certain events. This makes for very boring open world content.
What does this new system improve on when compared to our current system? I just see it doing more damage than good.
Yeah open world content where I have to sit around and wait for your buddies to finish it first before I even get a chance to try. Oh boy, sounds like fun.
Also adding some kind of /noaid command would help with the griefing.
