2006 All Over Again

Since the end of the DDOS attacks in mid-November I have noticed a large uptick in RMT activity across the board, especially in Ad Spam. For those of you who can remember that far back this is reminiscent of what happened to FFXI in 2006. That game also suffered a large scale DDOS attack after which the RMT ran rampant in the game for about 2 years before SE was able to clamp down on them. Are we looking at the same thing here?

Best way to get them out of your hair (because reporting them to SE doesn't work because they misinterpret you reporting them as endorsing them and you will get kicked out of the forums for 10 days (BECAUSE IT HAPPENED TO ME!!!)) is to set your search info to "Busy". You won't get any tells from your friends but you'll keep the ad spammers out of your hair.

The heaviest RMT activity I remember in XI was fall-Christmas of 2005.
