Just because an event can be done by rank 1, doesn't mean it has to be quick or easy. There are countless ways to keep things interesting without requiring a trek through rank 60 mobs!
Mentioning hogs and raptors tells me you went to Falcon's Nest rather than Owl's Nest and all I can say to that is: lols. Owl's Nest is easy to get to as any rank and with the event going on, any aggro should be dead or being dealt with when you get there.
