Frankly, I wish they would devote whatever resources went into this summer event (which I have not participated in nor plan to) into other areas like linkshell management, job balancing, server re-engineering, transportation, world redesign, and so forth.

Are you seriously saying this? You do know that they have different teams inside of the whole XIV team that works on different things? They've been working on what ALL you've said, so maybe you should just search the forums for their responses because they've responded to everything you've stated.

And if you haven't particapted in the event, why are you here going off topic about it?

For all we know, they can be botting up these ashes and selling them later. You must be a leecher as well...

I can also say the same for you. The people who want to have event locked out to other people, is the people who want to bot and sell ashes later for real money. And they want the event to be locked out, because that would certainly bump up the prices by a large margin. Think those silly party hat in Runescape.

Really? I'm wanting it to be locked so I don't be leeched on. How would you like someone sitting there getting your reward at the end of a leve for doing nothing? I don't see eye to eye with someone and I guess I like to work for what I earn. Some people grew up differently I guess.

Like I said in another thread, you can not contribute to the bombard escort because unfortunately it has a cap on how many people can do it at any given moment. You can try to /emote all you want, but it won't register. Don't compare it to leve, compare it to behest, only 8 people can join a Behest. The 9th person got locked out. Now swap behest with event and you get the idea.

I will agree with this comment here. Yes, there were leeches, they took advantage of other ppl leading the bombs, but I chose to have fun in the event with my friends and other players, I chose to take an active role and lead the bomb and help with the adds, cheering players and the bomb alike.

If they feel they enjoyed the event doing nothing but standing around, more power to them. It did not affect me in the least.

Very true, it didn't hinder my experience at all with the event. But I'd definitely not be opposed to future events where they make it so the npc actually can tell if you participated or not!

Admittedly, I wasn't able to engage the Elementals at Owl's Nest at my level, but I made sure to always go back and help with luring the Bombard and was thankful when the higher levels would take care of the footpads and any wolves that were nearby. I definitely look forward to more events that bring the community together in helping one another in any way!

While I agree that people shouldn't leech, I'll admit that at first, when I started the event, I did it.

The only reason I did is because I was told after asking how to go about it, someone said "just wait by the torch and wait for the NPC to come around, then talk to them." I imagine a lot of people are in this same dilemma. I would have gladly taken part in the event if I had known (yes, perhaps through my own laziness to do some research..but I asked my LS first and accepted the answer). Half the people doing it probably just don't know any better because it's what they've been told to do for the event.
