lol was gonna say you realize my profile says my sch is 50 lol im trying to level other jobs like ninja and blm.Since you're levelling ACN, you can actually go SCH and get healer queues practically instantly, and do SMN job quests on the side since both jobs level at same time as they share the same class underneath. If you haven't healed a dungeon I'd run the lowest level ones first to get comfortable with it, and if you pick up In Progress parties with no healer they'll just be thrilled they got one, even if brand new- that's what I did to learn SCH role and being the replacement healer I never got a single complaint.
Update I just realized your post didn't mention ACN that is just your profile class so nev mind you're prob on a diff one.

Hyperion always seems busy. Although when ninja came out I practically soloed to 50 over 2-3 days. I occasionally would get a friend to do a dungeon/hest with me (since hests give first time completion bonus per class), but I had to avoid fate popular fate areas because the sheer amount of people in them was making me crash. A combination of leves, quests, logs and hests was good, but I found going to the less popular fate areas was faster anyway. The few times I managed to join busier areas the fate mobs were so ramped up with their HP that it took longer than just going to an area with my chocobo or one or two other people doing fates for atmas where they were much weaker.
You should take a look at the exp reward the challenge log gives for doing those a set amount of times.
not to nitpick, but in low lvl dungeons (and even later) your fairy can basicly solo heal the entire group
I think the FATE system was made to "supplement" the levelling.. you weren't supposed to grind on it.. that's why they made the rewards in dungeons much higher, to encourage people to go there.. it took me a few months to get my first 75 in FFXI back in 2007 the levelling in this game is ridiculous in comparison so i weep for you that it takes you more than 2 days :P
on a personal note i feel fate grinding is the reason for so many people not knowing how to play their jobs in endgame.. going through low level dungeons you learn your rotations and skills rather than soe spamming to 50 then getting there and thinking.. errrrmm what do now?
i agree the queue times are long.. but i had no problem getting my ninja to 50 through dungeons and the occasional fate.. just takes a little patience

Oh you're on Lamia, that's why. Peak hours on the server are usually around 9PM EST- 11 PM EST at best on weekdays. Hardly anyone does FATE grinding on weekdays, and usually weekends are your best times to level up jobs. Really, the server is extremely casual dominated so most will rather solo queue for a dungeon and wait for an hour or so to get in than derp around on FATEs. I leveled my ninja purely on FATEs but that was around the 1st or 2nd week of 2.4 so there were still tons of ninja FATE groups running around Coerthas at the time. Now the hype has died down players are back to logging in once a week or so to cap poetry and calling it.
Lamia isn't exactly highly populated with actual players, so you're going to have to either grin and bear it or find some friends to run with.
Nope, there's pretty much always people leveling on Sargatanas.
I've done mostly leves getting NIN to where it currently is (lv41), and only jump in to FATEs that are close by or worth running to (eg Svara or Dark Devices). I started around lv10 (it's easy to get there with hunting logs/challenge log/FATEs).
What should be kept in mind is that the Levequest reward list only gives you the base exp not the total you'll get for completion which includes difficulty and speed bonuses, and a bonus if it contains a Wanted target. If you stay at the recommended level, you usually get about 80% more than it says (eg 9k leve probably gives about 16k exp), but can push that to around +100% exp with extra bonuses.
As feedback for it, I did 4 leves at Whitebrim, all at +2 difficult (1 higher than recommended):
Necrologos: Whispers of the Gem (It's a Necrologos type) - ~2 mins (Often you can just camp the same spot and a mob will respawn every time. Not guaranteed but tends to be fast).
Got a Gut Feeling About This (Use item at destination to draw out enemy) - ~3 mins (A little bit of RNG to deal with - I also got interrupted by the FATE that spawns here but that gave an extra 15k exp that I won't count).
The Area's a Bit Sketchy (Head to destination, kill mob that spawns) - ~2mins
Pets Are Family Too (Escort type) - ~4 mins (Escorts are probably the slowest)
So in all, it took me around 10 mins to do all 4 at 1 level higher difficulty than recommended. On the leve plate it says it gives 9k exp. But that is without any bonuses for completion. It's just base exp.
What I actually got in exp, though:
Necrologos - 15,484 reward + 3433 for enemies killed = 18,917 exp
Got a Gut Feeling - 15,484 reward + 1581 for enemies killed = 17,065 exp
The Area's a Bit Sketchy - 17,595 reward (included Wanted target bonus) + 2993 for enemies killed = 20,588
Pets Are Family Too - 15,484 reward + 3678 for enemies killed = 19,162 exp.
In total: 75,732 exp for around 10 mins work.
I got 17k exp from a FATE I jumped into and also happened to give me 51k exp for the first levequest challenge log entry. If I do 20 leves I'd get another 51k exp assuming I don't level and that goes up, as does the leve exp due to higher bonuses from difficulty.
As a note, I also didn't use my chocobo for healing. I could probably push +2 or +3 difficulty.
I would have to disagree with this. The rotations for most of the classes are pretty easy. Players could easily go through their rotation multiple times on boss fates. Just because a player levels up faster does not correlate to he/she not knowing their class.on a personal note i feel fate grinding is the reason for so many people not knowing how to play their jobs in endgame.. going through low level dungeons you learn your rotations and skills rather than soe spamming to 50 then getting there and thinking.. errrrmm what do now?
A lot of players suck at using damage buffs & dots.
There's little incentive to use those things in a FATE zerg, so a lot of people don't really get a feel for them if they level up that way.
