    Using a VPN for only ONE game that isn't working has no sense. If this problem was for all game, often, sure. But that's my first time in 10 years encoutering this issue so that should be fixed by the game / by all the others things that are responsible for that, and not by the user

    Where do you see u buy a product, and you fix it yourself when you have a problem with it ? The user isn't the one in charge of that

    I never used a VPN, never needed to, and I won't for this little troubled week-end

    Yeah, like I said, they don't need to say that they're working on a fix or whatever, just any kind of acknowledgement that there is a problem, saying it's not at their end or that they simply don't know what it is, would be better than nothing.

    I've also had no connection issues with the game since switching to the PS4 version back in the summer, aside from the DDoS thing a while back, and rare instances of very minor lag, so for a problem to persist like this is sort of a big deal.

    as its mostly on the last leg before SE's servers and SE is paying for the connectivity it should be SE who phones the providers and not us phoning our ISP, tell them "sorry mate , but i cant play FF XIV, could you please phone your upstream providers and their upstream providers and clear the routes for me".

    ISPs in my country flat out refuse to do this and don't care
    I've had an ISP tell me to get another service if I don't like theirs even though I was polite and all, this ISP I'm with now does the same.

    Exactly this. We pay SE every month and we pay our ISP every month. The customer should not go out their way asking for level 3 hokus pokus (sorry but I'm illiterate in this) and re-routing or what-not. One thing is hardwiring the ps3 to easen lag on my end, another is trying to solve something that is clearly beyond my reach. And most customer services don't even know what a evel 3 means, which means I have to explain what it is, and I don't even know...
    Just as I said earlier, if you are to release an online game, you first make sure that your player base can play and not make your customer easen the path for you.

    It seems that one of SE's peering partners has issues. SE should acknowledge the problem and talk to their peering partners why they have issues.
    I am hoping SE is multi-homed and has multiple peering partners so SE they can route around bad peering partners.

    The EVE Online datacenter is multi-homed for that exact reason, and they have routed around peering partners who fail. In fact they are now using an auto-routing system that detects routing failures for customers and can automatically find better routes for them.

    SE said if you want better routing for less 90k* an option will be available in the cash shop in the near future


    *will only lower 90k rate by 10%
