making leveling CNJ less painful?

SO! I started working on the SCH job and so far I find it really fun. Still trying out different strategies here and there. But, my cnj is at the minimum level right now... and I just don't want to level it anymore. I think it's extremely boring and I found it a chore getting up to 15. It's really the reason I chose sch over whm.

Obviously the crossclass skills are invaluable, especially stoneskin (or, at least, thats the feeling I get), so just need to suck it up and level, right?

Is there any way of making leveling this less boring? I usually do hunting log entries ASAP, and I was doing guildhests and leves... and I did Sastasha once.....Ugh.

Any advice?

Now that you're 15, get to 16. Then spamm the DF for the top two or three dungeons you have access to until 50. I got 1-50 in 4 days on 3% food, doing that.

But no. It's gonna be a bit boring.

Stoneskin actually isn't THAT important (EDIT: For SCH). Since its only 10% and you probably won't use it that often during battle.

I just got Stoneskin for my SCH like an hour ago (Different player/character than the one who plays the one shown as avatar) and while it was slow, and tedious at points, its actually really easy. CNJ/WHM are really good at soloing and since you are always a healer you get into DF easily. I found getting THM to 26 much more boring and tedious but Swiftcast is just too good.

I avoid doing Sastasha, the dungeon is too long and boring in my opinion. It'll take time, but it all comes down to you. Do you want Stoneskin? If not, its not that big of a deal (some tanks get pissy but most don't care/PLD can also have it) and you can always get it later.

If you dislike the class there's not a lot you can do to make leveling it more fun. It's something I think most everyone runs into when leveling a job for cross class abilities.

I'm leveling it right now also, and sure enough it is not fun. Just have to bite the bullet and do it. I think leveling anything but your main just becomes a chore, mining and botanist was just a mind numbing blur to get to 50, this is no exception. I don't even know why I'm leveling it. I guess because I started to for the PLD, but what a drag. So I have no advice, just feeling the pain.

Stoneskin might not seem like a big deal to get, as it's only 10%, but it's a 10% of mitigation and that's the name of the game as SCH. It's like saying we don't need protect since we don't get proshell. Get it. It's nice to know I can throw SS on DPS and not worry about succor every thirty seconds.

Yeah, not a fan of WHM either, but if you are planning on raiding in the future, level it to 50. Most statics want a healer who can swap depending on coil turns or if your regular healing partner drops out.

I've gotta say. I didn't think I would but I really really enjoy levelling my cnj - at level 27 and can't wait to hit 30, grind out arcanist and open up Whm. I love jumping into DF And I especially love doing primals, admittedly for no reward unless it comes up in roulette. Enjoyed getting my drg to 50 but have to say I'm loving my healer role more. A good amount of responsibility in dungeons without having to take on the task of tanking.

Actually no, it is nothing like saying that. Protect is a completely different ability that lasts 30mins and won't be canceled by damage, applies to the whole party, reduces physical damage received instead of absorbing an amount, and is learned at a MUCH earlier level.

SS is good, but really if someone doesn't want to level CNJ to 34, its not like they are hurting them selves by much or making things that much harder on them. In higher level content (when it is actually useful) you'll either be alone and it could be helpful (but not super important) or you'll be with another healer who may also have it or be a WHM.

There is really no way that I can see it being a GET IT spell like Swiftcast or CS. And I think you mean Adlo not Succor. Though you should be Adlo'ing (before fight) anyway, as the shield will stack with SS. (EDIT: Oops. hought he was talking about Tanks. Lol Fail.)

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone (keep them coming ;-) ). I have no idea if I want to raid yet. I've been raiding with my.main, brd, and it's all right but I have no static (I'm okay with that since I can't have a set play time ever anyway ). I suppose for now I'll take a break with it and level more slowly..

I switched to WHM after maining MNK for a good while and all I can say is run dungeons, be it to grab a cross-class or to the cap. As a healer the DF will pop much faster and dungeon EXP is in many cases the fastest way to level, barring you end up in a run with a bunch of incompetent slowpokes.

In a raid environment, especially when it comes to progression, stoneskin is very important since it stacks with the galvanize effect and can be used to block certain debuffs.

But if you're just running dungeons, hunting or digging for treasure maps stoneskin isn't important at all as most of that content lack SS-relevant mechanics.
