I absolutely love what they did bringing in a lot of those models and stuff into this game, and to anyone saying they look low poly or whatever, you definitely need to get your eyes checked.

It's cool going back to FFXII and seeing a lot of the things they took from it. Just an hour in that game makes me want to play this one even more. There are so many things in this game that reflect on the franchise and makes me feel nostalgic.

    Edit:

... yeah. Boy, we sure are low-poly in this game.

Look at the sides and you can see the polygons themselves. The only reason it appears high poly is due to normal/bump mapping. You put normals within a texture map and use those to do light calculations, rather than the polygon faces themselves. This allows you to add finder detail. It's not necessary bad that the models are low poly, as long as it look realistic.

Also the texture is way higher res allowing for again, more detail.

Hence why I said "look low poly". It does not "look low poly". I'm well aware how normal mapping works lol. You can see the polygons on every model in the game including brand new ones.

The problem people have with it is it seems that the models were copied over and given a new texture. Heck, if depending on SE's work, they could have already had high res textures, and just downscaled them for the production build. This is probably where these "high res" textures are going to come from once DX11 is in place since I doubt they are going to redo every texture in the game.

I don't think people have a problem with FF monsters reappearing from past games, but usually there is some twist on them. This is straight copy pasting.

This thread is the first complaint I've ever heard about it in my entire time in this game and even then this thread is not very popular and hardly has any support so I do not think it is an issue lol. Most people I know love what they did and I only hope they continue doing it (in moderation as of course I would like to see many new things too).

Sorry "the problem people in this thread have with it". I was just disproving some posters sarcastic "LOL LOOK IT'S NOT LOW POLY" when some models, especially the Facer obviously show it is.

Many things in this game are low poly and are mapped to not appear that way, including new models, as I've said. You can even watch Yoshida's presentations on the matter where he compared the modeling from 1.0 to the new version. Hell, some of the new equipment has so many modeling shortcuts on it that it makes some FF12 models look more advanced. People are arguing for the sake of arguing just because they're unhappy they took some models from previous games when it's obvious that the new models are not even remotely close to the old graphical quality present in those previous games.

Not a big deal to me personally.

They look fine. They are roughly the polygon count of most other items in the game - including the new ones.

Increasing polygon count isn't without downsides.

    Edit:

Remember the 1k flower pot from 1.0 ... don't think Yoshi-P wants to head down that road again - at least not until technology has caught up.

I always envisioned it Limsa=Sandy, Grid=Windurst, Uldah=Bastok. Probably due to their colors >_>.

    3. Beastmen
Amalj'aa - Orcs, Kobolds = Kobolds, Yagudo = Ixal & Sahagin, Tonberry = Tonberry, Goblin = Goblin, Mamool Ja = Mamool Ja.
    .
No Quadavs though, sad. Also, there were Sahagin Beastmen in XI too. Though, most of these are in past FF titles as well. I think Mamool Ja are the only ones pulled from XI that were originally XI exclusive :O!

This is not only the arcanist guild, but also immigration. I'm actually glad about references to their previous (or future) games.
Mamool Ja, Goblin, and Qiqirn. All FFXI Beastmen models I forgot about Qiqirn lol.
