Well if FFXIV took a similar approach to Abyssea, but without the increased exp - just the way the loot is, the NMs, the force pops/timed/vnm it's a great way to do raids.
The only reason Abyssea killed old FFXI was because you could enter at level 30, join 1 party, and level to 90 with 20 merits.
If FFXIV doesn't make that mistake, the abyssea method made FFXI a lot of fun. It only kills leveling areas because sits confined to 9 zones, and those 9 zones provide everything you'll ever need. Well, assuming you're level 30 or above.
Abyssea handled HNMs very well compared to oldworld final fantasy. Sure, there are still hacks, like allseeingeye that lets you see the ??? and trade your items faster, and some claim botting, but nowhere near as viscous as fafnir bots.
Your linkshells are never at a loss for things to do in Abyssea FFXI. In oldworld, you had to do most events when the HNM window was up, or do sky/sea. You were fairly restricted at first, and were slowly given more options (like Dynamis, Limbus, Ein, Salvage)... but nobody really wants the return of 21+ hour spawn NMs that leads to global claimbot competition.
ah btw nvr, u're totally right...and that makes ffxi easy-mode, if u want xiv like that pls...go play ffvii or some random single player stuff
Watch me. This same cop out argument people keep bringing up gets my knickers in a twist. It's offensive to be dropped into the elitist category just because I don't enjoy Abyssea. How about I don't like Abyssea because, nothing else considered, I DON'T ACTUALLY LIKE ABYSSEA. It's not fun to me. How simple is that?
The whole loot thing is just nice and convenient way for you to try and discredit people who have different opinions to yours. Fact is I don't fall into that category and neither do many others. I've never been anal about items, I never even strived for good gear. I play games to enjoy them. It just so happens that I enjoy the pre-Abyssea content more because my perspective of fun gameplay is different to yours. Hard for you to accept with that narrow view, I know.

You say this as if it were a bad thing.
Which was poor design, gave room for a ton of e-peen measuring and drama between shells. That's not what any of us need.I mean yoshida is pretty well saying that he intends to reduce competition.... look at FFXI. What is almost everything in the main world centered on? COMPETITION.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
First of all, I said a majority of players, which implies at least 2 catagories. So, in no way am I "dropping you into the elitist category just because you don't enjoy Abyssea". You don't enjoy Abyssea because you don't enjoy it, w/e. I did not say, all people who dislike abyssea are elitists and therefore Tigerclub is an elitist.Watch me. Second, I have never even commented to you personally or have even said I was referring to you in any way. The only reason I am responding to you now is because apparently you think I am talking to you personally and are offended because you missread what I post.
All you are doing is getting upset at things I never said. You should just chill.
I never thought you were attacking me directly, you were doing something worse in my eyes: making wide generalizations about people. I was using myself only as an example of why this is wrong. And yeah, I do need to chill. That one topic kind of sets me off, heard it before too many times >.>First of all, I said a majority of players, which implies at least 2 catagories. Many of the complaints came from people with Relic weapons. They spent alot of work to get them, and now they are pretty useless compared to Empy., which you can get in 2 weeks.
haven't said that i want 18 hr respawn windows, that was totaly crazy.. i'm fine with ffxiv's NMs, i like them loads more than ffxi's... but i don't see how ffxi is better than before now, it's simply the complete opposite.. going from hardcore only to totally casual, that's what i don't want in ffxiv <.< 3-4 hit weapons from a solo quest? thanks, but i'll have to pass
