No I won't. Non instanced, open world endgame was one of the things I absolutely hated about FFXI.

And I don't understand what you expected from the thread.
Pretty pointless IMO.
Well, I don't do raids very often...and I didn't do sky or anything like that. So since I didn't do them in XI, I doubt I will do them here. I play a game for the main scenario, not for gear...to me that is sort of like a p1$$ing contest. So no I won't leave if it becomes raid centric. So apparently they are going to be making most rare stuff come from raids, and are going to mess up the claim system (see http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-world-content)
I'm assuming that would mean no sky or sea like areas, no HNM dragons, no roaming nms (whats to stop me from generating mass hate and kiting it away from those fighting it to grief them). etc.
So if this game becomes heavily focused on raids and doesn't have an expansive world like FFXI had, will you still play the game?
Note: This is not a troll or doom and gloom post. FFXI's expansive open world was one of the things that set it apart from other MMOs.
Personally I'd leave for tera or a game with better raids like the new Star Wars. I love FFXIV but raiding gets boring since its just the same repetitive thing over and over and over again for months till a new one is released.
You mention that raids are pretty repetitive...wasn't sky, sea, dynamis, etc. pretty much the same? Need X jobs for this that and the other, kite this, kill that, earn points for loot claim...it all pretty much the same scenario if you ask me...so either way, I think people would be board to tears doing XI style raids or XIV style raids...I sure as heck couldn't pull myself to dedicate years of my life to doing what many did in XI for all that rare/ex drops...no way in hell.

Most likely because they can't think of anything better else to do, which is pretty sad. If they can't say anything nice they really shouldn't say anything at all. They may not care for your posts...which is fine they are entitled to feel such, and good for them...If I were you I'd just ignore their comments...they'll eventually stop...it's like dealing with a toddler having a tantrum...spankings usually don't work...ignoring them does.

They were, but farming triggers was usually more of a social event than a raid. You weren't always focused on rushing through a dungeon or pure tactics. You could just chill out and talk about stuff while you tried to spawn things. Same with HNM camping. some people really like the laidback kind of thing while others just want to go straight for the action.Well, I don't do raids very often...and I didn't do sky or anything like that. Mew!
I guess I would be the latter, staight for the action. I did do one raid, Toto-Rak. I enjoyed running and pummeling. I just don't like to sit and do things for hours, I just have other things I would prefer to do instead of playing a video game for hours and hours on end...3 hours max I'm good. They were, but farming triggers was usually more of a social event than a raid. I'm not huge into endgame either way, so it probably wouldn't make or break any game for me personally. I do think that the best game would be one that has both options (as well as other systems that take a long time for people who don't like big groups at all), so that more people are able to enjoy it.
I never liked that some games instance ALL of their content, since that defeats the purpose of having an expansive MMO world, but I wouldn't want there to be NO instances like FFXI either.
As for Yoshida's comments, he also said this: So they're obviously not going to instance everything, even if more rare drops are instanced than not.
