Well tanks have a ranged attack. Ranged attacks also work at close range. You cannot interrupt melee attacks as easily as you can interrupt a caster. There is a lot to consider I suppose.

I think tanks having a non-casting ranged attack, the positional requirements for a monk, and the fact all ranged attacks work at close range is probably what would substantiate your argument.

It'd also make a great deal of sense to have, or at least something spiritual wise. Given what you do to become a monk, it feels almost absurd that everything you do as a Monk is purely physical. Now don't get me wrong, I love the class, and I've mained it since I had joined FF14 for its release, but it's a bit off putting to get that story, and this result.

However, I feel like this is probably an argument that should also be put on hold for the time being. Lest we forget, in the later future, 3.0 had been announced, and we will be seeing more class quests, and thus, possibly some new skills.
