Beckon of the elementals Quest

Hi,

I'm fairly new to the game and have been trying to figure things out, but everything is hard to learn when not given many guidelines even though I am a FFXI veteren.

I'm on the beckon of the elementals quest and have been trying to fight the elemental as part of the quest for 3 ranks now as a THM. Sometimes on this a KO almost instantly, other times the elemental is down to half HP then I KO.

I'm trying to use the wards that the NPC gives me, but most the time they dont seem to cast, only once or twice i've seen them appear and by then the elemental has changed elementals.

Is there something I'm doing wrong, or do I need to rank up a bit. I'm currently Rank 15 THM and started the quest as a rank 13. I have CON to rank 8 so i have cure to help too.

Thing with this quest is, u can do it without fighting the elemental at all, u can even do it without warding the npcs (they will keep respawing endlessly anyway).

so just stand next to the ward guy, and spam ward on urself only for that element till the npcs eventually kill the boss, as simple as pie my friend

Thanks, I will try this again although I had read this somewhere when I tried to research it. I tried it and the elemental still killed me, due to the wards not taking effect.

I've tried this, and still i keep failing. I think the elemental gets too near the NPC and so I just die as I can't seem to cast the wards properly.

Keep talking to O'App, and when he says the wards are ready, click on the icon appearing ( under menu or in the area where your 'action icons' usually pop up, on top of the screen by default ), then select the element that the elemental is active at that point of time, and select the character currently under attack by that element.

Can't remember the exact sequence how you do it, but do it quickly, and make sure you select the characters which is being targetted by the elemental. Tried a few times for this as well ...

Thanks. I tried everything. The element just wouldn't cast. But I've finally completed the quest. I just ran away when the element got too close and i did nothing.
