For the life of me...I can't find anywhere where this head piece is obtained. I just want to use it for glamor and dye but I literally can't find any info on where to get it. Any help my fine fellows?

As it happens, there are several handy websites that categorize all of this (a quick google could have saved you the trouble). According to This one, it drops from Aurum Vale.

I'm pretty sure it drops from a treasure hunt (toadskin/boarskin).

There's also a crafted version of that (weaver), it's grey but looks the same.

Ah, I actually saw that, but if you look, it's not the same hat. Different feather, and it's called "Aetherial Felt Cavalier's Hat." And yes...I did google and search many a site.

I'm not positive if it's entirely the same, but looks pretty similar. You could check out the Woolen Cavalier's Hat which is crafted and see if it's what you want.

Unfortunately it deosn't say where the Aetherial version is from (but I also used to run Hullbreaker and Stone Vigil HM a lot before the new dungeons... so maybe one of those?) but the non-aetherial (or aka Woolen Cavalier) was from the 'Lady of the Vortex' quest.

Lastly - one easier to get, but slightly different (not sure if the icon appearances actually differ from the wearing appearance) is the plundered Cavalier's (lvl 15) hat from Tam Tara (NM) / Sastasha (NM) / Copperbell (NM)
