    How to sell ingredients

    Hi,
I'm fairly new to FFXIV and been playing about a month and am totally lost in some aspects of the game even though I was a FFXI veteren.

I've figured out that you can buy equipment items on the wards. But I can't find where I would sell ingredients/loot i've gained while levelling or doing levees. I couldn't find an item category for things like cotton boll, marmot meat etc. Is there a category to find these or do i just sell all these items to npc vendors as my inventory is almost full.

I was wondering whether to keep some to level crafting, but I also can't figure out where I would learn crafting recipes to learn to craft.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Jakena. Welcome to the game.

Realistically, you can sell materials anywhere in the Market Wards, because the Item Search will show items being sold in any Ward. You only have to worry about selling items in the appropriate wards if you want the lowest taxes.

If you're trying to figure out the appropriate Ward for a particular item, or you're looking for recipes, try searching Yellow Gremlin.

Also, you don't have to learn recipes to craft them. If you insert the proper materials, then you can craft without having to "earn" the recipe in the game.

Hi thanks, my problem isn't that to sell them in the correct ward. Its to find the the items i want to buy or sell. I can find complete items like armour, food, potions etc. I can't find on item search the ingredient type items. is it just that they dont appear if noone has been selling them in a while? I know they are low level items, but even new characters need to make a bit of money!

Also I know you can craft without learning the recipe. I managed to guess the ingredients needed for hempen yarn. but i can't guess every recipe for my level. there's too many possibilites

Clothier ward - Cloth and Fibre material
Tanner ward - Leather, bone and shell material
Ironmonger - Metallic material and part
    Woodcutter - Lumber material
Grocer ward - both raw and finished food
    etc.

For recipes you can check sites like Yellowgremlins.

Thankyou, I found them. Guess I didn't know about menu's in menu's! So I think i've set up a retainer ok. One more question, How do I know when I've sold something?

Right now, there's no notification when you've sold something. You'll just have to check your retainer every once in a while and see whether it's got fewer items in its bazaar and more money.
