But it looks like a caster robe, the thing that SE said is they didn't want new players to think tanks were mages. This robes specifically can make tanks look like mages.
Ugh, you again. Yes it would be, if it had two sets armor. Witch robe for casters, and broken zombie armor or something for disciples of war. Now you have more reason to the event longer. You seem to like jumping down my throat for a lot of things lately.
Glamour Guy approves this thread!
Ontopic: If we can "try-on" any clothing item as any job...why can't we glamour it? Shouldn't be hard to change a 0 to a 1 in a few lines of code.

I agree with op. I've only leveled BLM to 50 (I know, I'm a scrub) and I enjoy making creative outfits, but it just isn't possible to a great extent with the way things are now. I'm always examining people and trying on their gear with my BLM stuff and loving the exotic and gorgeous combinations that are impossible because of this limitation.
Ever since I joined almost a year ago I've noticed the disparity between outfit choices offered to DOW/tanks and DOM/BLM. From the very beginning I really wished that mages could get some armor too and was frustrated by how rarely quests would reward with stuff I could actually use while seeing that half of the things I could use, everyone could use. For being the face of the game BLM/THM back then seemed like it was getting treated like the redheaded stepchild.
Maybe there could be a lv 50 quest to unlock the ability to glamour oneself to look like any other class. Either way, mage gear needs some love, either in the form of new gear that gets away from all these robes, or more accessibility to other class types' gear.
Awesome idea! I got really annoyed that I was forced to run around in a popoto sack for so long(It took me almost a month to level to 50; new to mmos and enjoying the story/quests).
Because it's an event item. As it was said, you would likely complain if they made event items class specific and you happened to not have that class leveled or unlocked - This is why it's tagged 'all classes', so people won't get left out on event items. It doesn't match up with what Yoshida stated because it's not armor designed for anything other than to fit with the event. Technically, it's to make you look like a Witch, not so much a mage perse unless you play the semantics card.
My problem with the glamour system's restrictions isn't that I want to make my mages look like tanks or my tanks like mages, but sometimes I want a particular piece of gear for a look and I can't equip it. For instance, I don't see why a bard wearing a Boarskin Skirt would look out of place, but that item is classified as heavy melee (DRG + tank), even though it's just a long fur skirt. Similarly, Hard Leather Caligae are restricted to DoW even though they're just leather sandals that look similar to many other shoes. Nothing looks particularly un-magelike about them, but mages can't wear them. Want a dyable version of the Foestriker's Skirt (leather miniskirt) on a MNK, NIN, or DRG? Sorry, if I remember right, the only one is BRD only (Cashmere Skirt of Aiming).
There are just so many pieces of gear that don't make any sense to be restricted logically, but are.

I think the reason for the "confusion" your are seeing is that people want either 1) mage gear to be mage gear not all class or 2) all the other gear sets to become all class so mages aren't the only ones getting the short end of the stick as it were.
So really the confusion is caused by the double dealing already going on with the games gear. Anyone who mains a mage (healer or DPS) gets significantly less options for glamor than a melee DPS not to mention how many options a tank gets. And if you look at some of the melee DPS gear that is cloth based you would have to ask why a mage couldn't use it, like a shirt.
T....think in those poor people who craft and sell the glamour prisms!.... I...I'm not speaking about myself, of course!... But... Think about them... For my money, errrr, they money, Glamour System shall prevail. Here's an idea: How about we dump this idiotic glamour prism system and just have vanity slots like every sane mmorpg out there?
Square-Enix is doing the same problem they did with 1.0 in which they're making this unnecessarily complex.
It would have been easier to just have instanced personal housing. It would have been easier to have personal rooms accessible outside the house. It would have been easier to make the coil lockout similar to crystal tower's loot lockout. It would have been easier to have never incorporated classes at all.
They do these ridiculous things to make the game more "unique" but in reality it's just it steals a lot of it's gameplay from other online games.
