Maybe to you. SOME of us don't like coming home from a hard day's work only to be killed by some jerk while trying to enjoy a bit of farming or grinding.
I played on a PVP server in WoW at first. It was so much <sarcasm>fun</sarcasm> trying to do quests on a low level character while being ganked by lvl 80+ toons.
It was also so much <sarcasm>fun</sarcasm> reaching the level 60 area, which even in a pve server has pvp due to towers, and being randomly attacked by not just one, but 5+ pvpers that thought it was entertaining to attack lower level players in their full pvp 6k+gs gear as a group. Then stay in that one area, which of course had all the lvl60 quests, to kill anyone who dared come back as soon as they spawned.
You might use it for botters. Lots of people will use it to annoy those of us who just want to play in peace. Also what do you have against FATE grinders? Many people still need to level or grind for ATMA. I'm sure they'll find it <sarcasm>fun</sarcasm> to have their progress interrupted for no good reason other than because some other person feels like it.
Now if you had suggested a PVP map, which would only have pvp-related quests, pvp-related vendors, and any gathering nodes would not be unique (which means a pve-er could still stick to a regular PVE map) THEN maybe I'd agree.
I completely agree with this statement. Open world PVP would effectively ruin the game for me. People could no longer even farm for mats without fear of being stabbed in the back, because the gear you wear while gathering isn't suited for any sort of combat. Open world pvp doesn't make sense for a game like this unless it's placed in only certain pvp revolving zones.
well, it wouldn't even fit the Lore... I mean, look at the Frontlines!
BAHAHAHAH You are all just scared!! Of MEE!!!
Honestly, if you were in Faerie, I would be. I most certainly don't miss all the games I've played before where I had to constantly worry if people were going to come down and ruin my fun (especially those who would stay to wait for a player to revive and spawn kill). If you're an open world pvp-type, then I'm not just scared. I'm terrified - not so much of being killed - but of having my precious time and sub money being wasted constantly rezzing and walking back to where I'm trying to go.
That being said, I don't think ff14 will have open world pvp because, from what I've observed, I don't think Japanese gamers are particularly into that.
I used to rekt players like you back in Aion, those were the days. However the era of openworld pvp MMORPG is gone (maybe with last Mohycan EVE Online and perhaps Star Citizen, both being MMO not MMORPG). Lets be honest, openworld pvp never worked. The very idea is defect and only pleasing for small minority of grie...pvp players. Majority of players gets pi...iritated by that and it is the majority what makes SE real money.

Because nothing screams excitement like attacking players who aren't attacking back. You'd probably get wrecked by all those FATE grinders anyway, probably the bots too.
open world PvP is just like a pain in the ass. Jobs/classes/races/whatever are NEVER made for 1v1 and it's always "the one with best gear wins, except if the other one has friends hidden for noobish ganks". Oh and it always ends in "OK let's ravage low level areas so the other side can't have new players, it will be fun" (hint : it's not. Neither for you nor for them)
The only open world PvP worth mentioning is the one where you can ACTIVATE it ONLY if you want. But guess what ? People never activate it then because that mode sucks.
