    Emperor Fish Farming (flint caviar)

I'm looking for some tips from all the fishermen out there. I'm a 4star CUL and I'm trying to efficiently farm Emperor fish to turn them into flint caviar. I have been told that the Emperor Fish is a tricky fish to catch especially when u have maxed out fisher gear (supra forgers gear etc) similar to how catching the Olgoi fish was harder with max perception in 2.3.

Please post any tips and tricks for efficiently catching this fish weather it's lowering your perception or equiping lower level fishing gear as I've been told low level fishers have had more success.

Baits I've seen mentioned so far are honey worms and silver spoons. Which is the best bait to isolate the abalathian smelts?

uhm, hard to catch? theres nothing special about emperor, I'm using syrphid baskets btw and get one all 20 min~

you cant even lose it once you have a bite, I cant see a problem with the fish
its just a random easy to catch 1 star fish

A friend with supra rod and all the foragers gear told me he only caught 5 of the fish in a 4 hour time frame. Does this lign up with your numbers?

    yes, it does

    because rng
if you call yourself a 4 star crafter you should have already experienced, that rng has a big influence on every part of the game, fishing is no exception

do you know why? because thats the starbright timeframe and 90% of the people only fish during that time => less emperor caught during other daytimes in comparison

Thanks for confirming. So i think we can both agree that "Easy" to catch doesn't properly describe this fish. Cuz.... RNG. Does Midget baskets give a chance at catching anything else besides the Alabathian smelts? Are there any baits that isolate them to minimize this rng?

As i said some low level fishers seem to be having better luck catching them with around 10-15 caught per hour. Which is the reason i posted this thread. To find out if anyone can confirm downgrading their gear helps. Or perhaps time of day or bait used etc.

what do you want to hear? Its a dice roll

first you need a HQ smelt and I posted you the bait which I use, then you have an amazing 1:5 chance to get an emperor bite
its a simple process without any other influences

if your friend only catches 4 in 5 hours he has just bad luck, I'm sorry for him

The gear ur using gathering/percep stats for one would help since thats essentially what this thread is about. Are you a max stat fisher or a a low level geared one etc.

RNG is a major part, but so is knowing what you're doing.

The fish you need to catch for your mooch is 35.
The next higher level fish at the hole is 37.
    It's a freshwater hole.

Therefore, you want to use a freshwater bait, level 30+ and below 32, leaving only Syphilis Buskets. If you use anything higher, your chances drop quite a bit.
