Is it at all possible to add a character counter to the post tools to make it easier to not overshoot the character limit, or if we've done so, at least know how much we need to shave off? 1000 characters sounds like a lot, but it's surprisingly easy to hit that limit very quickly, especially if quoting. I'm sure most of us have done it once or twice.

If you use the advanced window and preview the post, it will tell you if you've exceeded the 1000 character limit, and if so by how much.
