Seen during the latest LFtPL:
So! Where do you think we're headed?
Looks a bit like the Sea of Jade (on the east side of Eorzea), but a lot of the coastlines don't line up.

Looks like somewhere in the straight of Merlthor to me, between Dravania and Ishgard.
I think I have to agree with Vik for now. Seems like it could be the western shores, with the northern edge of Vylbrand/O'ghomoro coming in at bottom with the Strait separating it from the mainland, with the Indigo Deep as the central focus. Could be a small glimpse of the New World to the left as well. The smaller islands, I'd say hard to peg whether those are actual oceanic islands or sky islands, given that we know sky content is coming.

I don't know about cartography and if the symbol in the water on both maps means anything, but when I first loaded this thread up I thought of this section to the east:
I mean the scale and perspective seem waaay off... but we're not exactly talking Google Maps here.
But wasn't it mentioned before that player airships will be restricted to only being able to fly over the Sea of Clouds? (I don't have a source for this sadly). If that is the case though, that map then makes sense because to me it closely resembles the Sea of Clouds north of Coerthas between Dravania and Xelphlatol, making the direction rose on the map centered on Ishgard appropriately. But until I have proof of that, take that with a grain of salt.![]()
Looks a little to me like a map projection that is heavily, heavily skewed. Kind of like old mercators used to look with just big boxes of map that sort of look like they fit together and take NO account for the curvature of the planet.
With that in mind, it doesn't look like Aldenard to me at all.
EDIT: Nope. Wait. It looks like a topographical map. Zoomed in to maybe look like a region of Coerthas or the Sea of Clouds and darkened/lined to show elevation. I'm betting it's this instead.

I happened to be looking through my screenshots and found a picture I took in Sastasha. Maybe this will help. Can anyone translate the words? I tried and couldn't seem to match them up with anything.

That.... looks like a pretty good match. The one from the basement is more stretched out, but other than that it could be a match?
But I have no idea what it says :/
That map is bang-on. Unfortunately, I'm having 0 success translating that text into anything intelligible and I still can't find matching islands or coastline. I keep coming back to the coast of Dravania.
Edit: There's also a good chance it's just the western coast of Vylbrand, especially now, considering the proximity to Sastasha.
