I must make one small point,

I see lots of low level RMT around, but VERY little high level RMT.

Seems between the complexity of playing a character and the difficulty of selling items in wards, the RMT are having a hard time getting characters leveled and making money.

The best anti-RMT measure is to make it difficult for them to level their characters. So far, this is working - there are very few high level RMT that I've seen so far, and SP gains are gimped when many low levels join a high level for leves. So in effect, their progress is much slower than the average player.

    Something's working, at least.

Would hurt players too... Look at Aion's ganking problem

Rival linkshell claims X mob go kill them, Rival Ls is gathering for Dungeons Go kill them, Rival linkshell member just raised up at a Aetherit gate camp their body until you force them to just log off.

The kind of PvP you describe would basically kill the game more of less.

^ exactly this. If they were to implement a no-restrictions open-world PvP system then I would have to quit the game. Imagine trying to go out and gather, no wait you're dead. Imagine trying to go out and grind on monsters, no wait you're dead. Imagine trying to do ANYTHING outside the city, no wait you're dead.

The only PvP I'd be okay with is either in a specific area designed for PvP and duels. Both of those would require players to consciously accept or go to that area.

Pretty much all of the above is wrong in one way or another.

    1. Aion is a pvp-centric game.
    2. Aion doesn't have a ganking problem, since they essentially nerfed the rifting system that sponsored it. Even back when rifting was rampant, you could avoid being ganked fairly easily. In my trek from 1-40, I was ganked perhaps a dozen times total, split evenly between Eltnen and Heiron. If I had really wanted to avoid it, I could have simply jumped over to Theobomos.
    3. Said pvp has hardly killed Aion. Last time I checked, Aion was pushing 4.5 million subscribers worldwide, which is hardly what I would call dying.

Though, oddly enough, I've never ran across a bot in the Abyss. I wonder why...

Most of the FFXIV crowd left is scared of pvp.

I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!

Fafnir pops and 2 rival linkshells are competing with one another. The competition for "claiming" is still there because of how drops work, so bots are still very likely. However, we're met with yet another problem on top of the one that already existed.

Fafnir has a special AoE move called Spike Flail, which is triggered when hate is pulled from behind. This ability has the potential to completely wipe an entire party. Linkshell A claims fafnir, and Linkshell B (knowing they won't get any loot unless they have the initial "claim") begins attacking Fafnir from the rear for the sole purpose of triggering this attack. What ensues is a constant MPK battle between the 2 linkshells which could have been completely avoided with a real claim system.
This is the first thing that came to my mind when I was reading the interview...and pretty much the only thing that worries me...you just know these kind of things will happen (if there is a way to do them), there's no if or maybe lol
