Well seeing how the intended audience were kids, and kids don't really care much aside from seeing magical things happening. But that debate is for another time. (Never seen frozen so I can't give my personal judgment)

Not really. Just imagine the Britney Spears/Lindsay Lohan era, and that's generally what Frozen is all about. Or at least those Barbie-thingie if you want to relate for the kiddies. lol
And we're getting OOT now. ^^;
You can still get items outside of cash shop if you do the seasonal events while they happen (2013 halloween for the ghost costumes)

I don't like much the idea of cash shop, but the items sold really have no importance, just vanity things. I like minions and mounts, for example, but a cash bought minion or mount doesn't feel as nice to get. Just for me.
For people that want to obtain everything obtainable, there are also vanity things that can't be obtained in game like the fat chocobo for PS4 or the Coeurl mount for legacy players. Edit: Incorrect, these can be bought with collector's edition. There's a legacy chocobo, though.
The extra retainers do give some advantage, but also having alt characters can be used for advantage and require higher payment. A high crafter with a lot of play time may profit from the extra retainers. In my case, I feel that the extra daily time needed to take care of 2 more retainers is not worth for having more storage space and more chances to get things from ventures and sell at market boards.

Wasn't the coeurl came from special edition & fat choco from veteran rewards? You can obtain both of them if you upgrade your account to special edition, and subscribe long enough to get it, respectively.
And speaking of hired services, XI has this extra storage called Mog Locker that was introduced in ToAU expansion. It does requires regular service fee, but you paid them with ToAU currency that's obtainable by doing contents in ToAU itself. It saddens me when knowing extra retainers are paid with RL money, though I can still manage my space just fine for now. Then it adds another pain in the ass reason, as to get the other two exclusive rare minion that came from retainers with other 2 DoL class, almost as if SE making us to purchase those extra retainer services. My only choice for now is to buy those 2 from MB as soon as the price is reasonable since I don't want to reset and reworked my original retainers.
So far, I can try manage it, but every upcoming patches keep making more and more demand on those RL money thingie. Not to mention that payment option got very limited when SE stopped UltimatePay. Seems like SE getting more and more to the table but didn't fix their services.
At least with XI and their current expansion, they have very large to-do list than ARR, but they felt more accomplish-able and more rewarding than easy-to-get-with-money stuff.
Thx. Already got 'em though. ^^;
Why do nowadays' games have DLC when back in my day NES games didn't?
Would be nice if people stopped creating new threads for this topic. WAS IT REALLY THAT HARD to find ONE other thread about this and post there? No, you had to create your own thread, huh.
XI might have never had a cash shop, but back when storage was still a problem, they introduced the mog satchel, which required you to buy a security token from SE to unlock .. Most people bought a token for the additional storage it provided rather than the additional security...
Needed to make this one because it's correlation with FF XI, and in general, the FF banner. Feels like ARR less and less FF now.
Don't really care if there's ppl want the easy way of forking extra RL cash. Just don't kill the supposedly-awesome rewards that you felt proud getting with your own effort, especially being P2P. If this F2P, go ahead and waste hundred thousands of dollars on those cash shop for all I care.
While satchel are being disguised as rewards for using token, it still felt understandable. It's more like incentive than force to pay. XIV also has it's own version with free 2nd home point, which I have no objection for it.XI might have never had a cash shop, but back when storage was still a problem, they introduced the mog satchel, which required you to buy a security token from SE to unlock .. Cash shop however, are very different thing compared with token. ^^;
