Character name taken on server

Did a search in Libra, the name is not taken on the server. Tried to do a server transfer from another server to the server, the name change warning doesn't come up.

Tries to create a new character on the server, says the name is not available.

Anyone else run into this? What is the cause of this?

I'd imagine there was a character at some point with that name who was banned or something because I had the exact same problem when trying to change my name even after checking the lodestone.

Nope, had to choose a different name.

Do you have a retainer with the name Libra? the same thing happened to me in 1.0 when Wutai server turned into Masemune My Character name was Enthy Paradox and I had Retainers named Enthy and Paradox. I had to change Paradox and once I logged in, it was my retainers name that changed.

You sure retainer names clash with player names? Retainers can only have one name and players must make a first and last name.

I don't think they mean that the retainer and character's name clashed, but a retainer and a retainer.

Some names were not available from the very start by default.
