Frontlines - Duty Finder, what do?

    Heya forums!

Any word on how DF actually works for Frontlines?
I know it's quite unique in that it changes the size of the teams dependent on how many people it can dredge up into the games.

But why does it take so long to put them together? Is it due to a lack of numbers?

I'm making very broad generalisations here but surely most players who come out off a match go back into the queue for another one, there should be matches popping every 10-15 minutes or so with people entering and leaving matches, right?

Or is something else at work here?

Some people believe it uses the wolves dens pvp ranking system to try to protect low rank people. Wolves den can have teams sit in que for 30 mins and will refuse to match them up. That said some GC don't actually have 1 team queing up. Also matches are going closer to 20 mins since 2.4.

That doesn't make sense. Everyone is synced to ilvl 80 in FL.

btw the isync80 wolfden have the same problem with the rank filter, idk if the frontline have it but it's maybe the case, that's hard to know if it's the rank filter : the question is we lack of people with any rank the instance need or we lack of people in a gc ?
Anyway why the i80 wolfden have this rank filter ?
Rank Filter now is just a mess, they listen to player complaining about others players more geared, i don't see the point here, it's better to play against more geared players or not play at all ?
And yeah now we have the I80 wolfden to have this rank filter... this is just nosense XD

GC restrictions are the main hindering factor behind bad Frontline queues.

That is the point. The que system just seems so out of whack. I can have parties short players and people are in que on the server. Why is the server not letting them in? What magical formula are they using.

If que hits 30 mins i just reset it and some nights i will get in. Asking how long they were short and they will say from the start.

Also meant to add you are not taking into consideration that a rank 45 will have some maxed pvp skills while a rank 1 will have none. With the right set that can make a huge difference in a mediocre group for a healer at least.

This is another problem, it has been observed over and over that the Duty finder system(not just for PvP) is moody and just works weirdly, specially when you start messing with stuff like language settings(ie having multiple on for stuff like pvp) and when you stay in queue for too long and/or queue is poorly populated (by this i mean there is not an excess of player queued for content ). I hope they noticed/will notice but i'm not optimistic. It's the kind of stuff they should notice on their own since we have no way to actually tell them what the problem is, and it's already been more than 1 year..

I really do not trust their queuing system at all. The other day my group queued as a party for frontlines, and waited for like a whole hour. Meanwhile, we watched other people from both the same and different GCs enter, finish match, re-queue and get pops throughout the whole hour. And then when our queue finally popped it was a 48 man. When we finished the 48 man all subsequent queues were super fast and were 72 man matches. I'm guessing the queueing system started a 48 man queue and decided it had to finish it, and maybe before it was finished it kept swapping people to new 72 man matches to fill them up, and they would end up filling first or something. Whatever the reason, you know something is wrong when my queue hasn't popped for a long ass time yet someone from the same GC who came out of a match and re-queues gets like a 5min pop in a different match.

Fitting parties into these queues efficiently is actually a difficult computer science problem. I really don't trust that they have the most efficient solution because sometimes the queues are straight up weird. I wish they did a dev post like they did when people doubted their RNG system.

And how come sometimes the estimated time thing doesn't even show anything? And once I got a 66 man frontlines queue (like it was xx/66 instead of xx/72). It really makes me question what the hell is going on in the background.

I've seen 2 games that were xx/71, but I've never heard of a 66-man o_O no clue what's going on there the only thing I can think is that a pre-made of 6 withdrew early on before anyone else clicked and when the server sent the message with the current number of people it was waiting for it did not include them.

Another issue I've had is when I get into a game and we're down like 10 people and I ask some friends to queue in progress. You would expect the game to prioritize new people queueing into the game that is going on, but often times my friends wait 2+ minutes (and our gates have been open for 1 min) before finally getting a pop to fill in for our game.

My group also has a 30 min rule, where if we've been queuing longer than 30 mins we completely disband and re-form and re-queue, usually pop within 10 mins after that. We've had some queues that have lasted 1 hr+ and then we popped almost immediately after we withdrew, reformed and re-queued (after seeing others in our linkshell get in multiple games).

I queue with the Join Party in Progress option always for frontlines, bc even jumping in on a losing team is better than mining Electrum for 20 mins at a time.
