Wow perfect thanks so much !
Wow perfect thanks so much !
Pretty much all sweet foods will give you MP+ and mage-type effects such as magic potency and accuracy, etc. Anything sweet like chocolate, cakes, cookies, etc. All the foods fall under certain types of categories, for example fish dishes typically give only ranged+ stats, meat dishes give attack and HP and bread-type dishes give defense xD
Wow do you need to be spoon fed everything that badly?
You couldn't even complete a simple worthless quest without looking it up in FFXI. That's part of the fun of the game, figuring things out. The community works together to find things out.
Just how SE didn't post the recipe list for every single craft when the game came out. People still don't know the recipes for some items.
Moth i was only kiddin dude when i said smartarse :P
And visch you need to chill out -_-...
The guide someone posted does seem quite exhaustive however the problem I face is that i still think the stat buffs the food is supposed to give simply isnt working atm. I seriously notice 0 difference and its not like I havent tried testing it.. Im a culinarian so i want the food i make worth buying.. but its not because its not obvious what it does in ANY way..
As for crafting food im almost certain people who say it make the difference between a synth and a fail are just getting that placebo effect.. If it does make a difference its negligible at best.
And no i dont think SE you should spoonfeed people info but in this respect i would like some clarification. The food effects are far too hard to determine to the point where I dont even think there doin anythin.. Its not like it would be the end of the world if the food effects icon also told you what bonuses your likely to receive.. Also why doesnt my attb page change when ive eaten food? E.g change the colour of the stat to show a temporary boost is currently active.
Right having reviewed this page http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...1256&tag=25040
I can safely say that IF this information is correct (which im not saying it is) then food is indeed, pointless.. at higher levels at least.
SO lets say my archer wants to buff his accuracy before a fight. Im rank 43 so I think ill eat a rank 45 accuracy food.. "Stuffed cabbage".
Now according to this persons blog my DEX has to within 5 points of 77/78 and my Lightning attb has to be within 10 points of 60 to achieve the optimal boost for this food (e.g my character finds it divine)
So there's the problem right there.. My dex is currently at something along the lines 130 and my lightning attribute is at 85. So its impossible for me to gain an effective boost from this food (one which is at least decernable to the naked eye during battle).
And so far no-ones found any more recipes for accuracy food higher than this (food with say higher optimal attribute windows).
At lower levels then food may be a good idea, or for classes which haven't invested stat points in certain attributes meaning IF they change to a class where they want an accuracy buff (e.g a rank 50 conj changes to a rank 20 lancer and has around 50-60 dex) then they can select a food appropriate for there current stat.
Alternatively you can reassign your stats everytime you want to use food to make sure you get an optimal boost (obviously pointless as changing ur dex down from 130 to 78 odd is gonna lower your accuracy)
Now there may be hundreds of undiscovered culinarian recipes for food which has a higher stat window to allow people of high rank to use food which there character finds "Divine"... but i doubt it.
Additionally why does food such as stuffed cabbage say "optimal rank 45" when according to this persons blog you need to have 78 dex to be able to use it effectively.. any one on a melee class at rank 45 will probably have alot more than 78 dex assigned.
This info is ALL subject to this guys blog being 100% true (which we cant be sure it is) But either way this system is absolutely ridiculous. Its too convoluted to be useful and if you do have to make sure all your stats are within certain windows (low windows at that) then whats the point?
I seriously hope this system gets a massive overhaul.
This is a good resource to see what the food does and what values your stats need to be at to get the optimal effect.

Right now, there is way too much ignorance regarding food. Not many people know how it works or what it is good for. Food effects should be listed on the item description. The stat boosts should clearly be visible on your stats menu as well. This is how equipment works, food should be the same. When no one knows what food does or how it is used, no one wants to buy it, and the Culinarian class gets shafted.
The devs also need to change the conditions for food to have an effect. As it is now, you need a certain value for your stats and elemental attributes for you to get the "divine" message. This is a bad system. I like to rank up multiple classes. I have a melee class, so I set my attributes to 71 str and 55 fire to get the optimal boost from Shephard's Pie. However, next I want to play my Thaumaturge, but I can't reset my stats due to the cooldown. It is ridiculous that at phys level 50 I have to wait 2 hours in between stat reassignments.
So, #1, I can't set my stats to get optimal food buffs from Tomato Pie (mage food), and #2, I can't set my stats to go from meleee spec to mage spec.
Okay, so now what? Craft? Well, if I change to Goldsmith, I want to increase my DEX to help with synthing on main hand. I also want to get set stats for apple juice (MND 53 water 42), but uh oh, I had my MND set to 80 the last time since I was playing mage, and my water was at 80 as well. In one click of "reassign", my MND and water only go back down to 50 something, so I can't get the divine message from juice.
This system is totally stupid and needs fixing.
Just base the food buff on the rank of the food, that's all.
