    Ishgard and Housing

A23: The war between humans and dragons is still being fought in Ishgard and it’s not really a safe place to live, so we will not be implementing housing areas at the beginning of the expansion. While we may implement it at some point in the 3.0 series, we aren’t at the point where we can promise any kind of time frame.
Many already speculated that there might be additional housing for the expansion, but there's on glaring problem.

How will Ishgardians welcome in foreigners to live on their land, when they've been so adamant about exclusion, even if there isn't an on-going war?

Granted there are a few Ishgardians who are more accepting, or even fanatically obsessed over our hero... (I'm looking at you Haurchefant) but that only accounts for a small minority. Even if we happen to "save the world" again, I don't think it'll warrant the Ishgardians to welcome foreigners into their borders.

Well, we will help them out pretty much during the main story quests, guess that will soften them up a bit

There are many ways this prejudice could be circumvented. It could be a high ranking Ishgardian who champions the idea, with enough influence that it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about it.; Or maybe we'll ally ourselves with Ishgard to the point where we aren't considered outsiders any longer; Or perhaps the prejudice isn't as wide spread as we're led to think, after all I believe that our characters get a letter of recommendation from three different noble houses during the course of the main story.

It'll be interesting to see things unfold, but I don't think Ishgard's opinions of foreigners are so bad that housing there is impossible. After all, we're trusted enough already to walk unescorted behind their borders. They don't consider us enemies.

Heavensward's out > Ishgard attacked by dragons > Adventurers help fend off the dragons and possibly win and end the holy war > Adventurers remove the Ascian influence over the Archbishop > Ishgard gets our trust and is now open to all!

Well, if it turns out their anti dragon religion of the Fury is built on One Big Lie (or Misunderstanding) as Shiva seems to say, it could lead to a complete change in how they see us, dragons, and the other city states.

I champion the idea that the fanatisisem is bread by selective misinformation. Only giving the ishgaurdians the facts that make them follow blindly. After all even some of the city states in the allience were tough on us before we started felling primals and stoping Garlens, and Ishgaurdians were tough to win over as well but those we have we won through action even going as far as to become a cult celeberty to some (I'm with the TP about Lord H).

So maybe it's not that the Ishgaurdians as a whole dislike out siders but a select few are benefiting (Read profiting) off of isolation (Like the Archbishop who is teamed up with our favorite black and white robed antagonists) and we really don't know what happened to the ishgaurdians in the East and West High Lands or in any of the low lands. It's compleatly possible that they're traped on their own and actually may resent the Holy See for abandoning them. (Since Snow Cloak is the ice wall that seals the path to the west high lands it's possible that the cut off ishgaurdians allied with the dravanians to actually form the Heratics due to the Dravanians "Saving" them.)

I think Ishgardian housing will be in the slums because we're dirty foreigners. They even said Ishgard is highly segregated based on class with the wealthy living in the spires and the poor in the streets.

They've been doing that for aaaaaaaaages. Honestly, something big has to happen for the Warriors of Light to be needed in Ishgard - this war has been going on forever, they're not suddenly going to open their gates because more Dravanians started attacking. Of course That One Plot Point at the end of the 2.4 MS quests kind of makes me think that's whats going to gain us access to Ishgard. Though, you're probably right about the WoLs ending the war and stopping whatever else happens during that time. Hopefully it doesn't take us all the time it will take to wrap up the conflict for them to introduce player housing though... @_@ I'm sure they could shoehorn it in somehow.

Well, just being the adventurer who has trumped Primals and the Garleans alike would be very tempting to Ishgard's theocratic rulers to have on the Theocracy's side - and the listing for Ishgard on the main site even hints at this:

The attacks on Ishgard are rare, once everyon 20-30 years when Niddhog awake, the rest of the time it's mostly attacks on the borders. Nothing compared to what happen when Niddhog awake and the sky is clouded by the dragons as in Heavensward, and with Midgarsormmr having high chances of being reborn, the Ishgardians losing the war little by little ( they lost 2 vigils not so long ago ) and Aymeric trying to have an alliance between Ishgard and the other city states will be the main reason why we will have access to Ishgard.
