Hypothetical: What if ACN got a new stance?

Yesterday I was healing in SV and I failed to dodge an aoe in time and I died. The BLM took over healing and we won the battle. Lucky for the tank, he was wearing full Battlemage so it had both int and mnd.

So this had me thinking. CNJ gets Cleric Stance, so what if there was an opposite stance? Since ACN is the only other job with a healing spell, it would make the most sense to give it to them. We'll call it Medic Stance. It does the for healing what CS does for dps. It converts int to mnd, and gives a healing boost. And BLM can cross class it.

It would have helped me several times before when the healer died and I went into backup mode while waiting for Swiftcast to cycle so I can get him/her back on her feet. To that end - it's usually more effective to swiftcast+raise the healer while the tank pops some cooldowns.
Granted, my healing sucks. At ilvl 103 SMN I usually non-crit for around 450HP. When you have a tank with 8000+ HP... it doesn't really do much. Even more so on a big pull.

I'm not going to (right away) try to get too deep into the weeds on this.

All I'll say is that while I would love to have it, I think it would make me utility overpowered as a SMN. My limited healing feels like a good balance right now. Even if SCH get Cleric's Stance which lets them tap into the DPS side of their ACN roots more than the SMN can tap into their healer roots. I have always felt that it's the tradeoff of SMN continuing the DPS legacy while SCH have to completely change everything they were trained to do for 30 levels to take up healing.

    King for a day: Yes
    Due to balance issues: No

DPS with Physik is not intended to be the jump in Healer if the "real" Healer dies for whatever reason.
If such stance is in discussion, you consequently must discuss a "tank" stance for melee DPS too, to jump in for the eventually dead tank.

    TL;DR
No, we have roles/classes/jobs, this change has potential to screw this up.

btw: A Healer with Cleric Stance does not replace a DPS, I would assume it is just about balanced the way it is right now in this aspect.

Intentional or not, its a "real" side effect of having it. Just like Resurrection on SMN. We're not there to raise people - but we're kind of expected to when the situation calls for it.

Of course, some times it's just better to wipe and be done with it. Matter of fact, it's usually better. The MP cost is too steep and a risen WHM/SCH won't have the MP to do jack-all once they're back up anyway.

The same argument could be given to a healer helping with the DPS. That's not what they are there for, but they have the ability to so long as it does not directly interfere with their core function of healing.

Agreed. It opens a silly can of worms that is best buried until the end of time.

Not sure if this was targeted at me - or in general. If the prior, I never insinuated that they do. However, the disparity in the amount of time a fight lasts between a healer that does DPS and a healer that refuses to is staggering. I'm assuming part of that gap is due to the INT boost that Cleric's Stance affords them.

Again, I am not for the idea of Medic Stance in the game. However, I absolutely do want it because I'm greedy and want to be overpowered like a mo-fo.
