Never should've taken anyone serious who used TERA and SB as an example of to revealing of armors. Anyone who uses those two MMO as an example of revealing armor, clearly isn't smart enough to grasp that concept that revealing outfits is part of the very CONCEPT OF THOSE GAMES!Sounds more like grasping at straws than anything if you ask me.
"Omg, a belly button, wtf is this, sexist and objectification, wheres the gender equality, EVERYTHING should be equal or NOTHING, ect ect" ect blah blah blah
Sometimes, if you want to move forward, you should just learn to take the small L and use what you gained as a platform. I can't take anyone in this thread seriously, because we're using FFXIV as an example when it's literally one of the few MMOs in a decade to do away with the trope.
Edit:
Screw the "in a decade" part, i literally cannot think of any MMO ever that does.![]()
The worst part is that people even consider going to argue that those games should change their style, as if not one single game is allowed to go with such an extreme style. It seems more and more like the people who are arguing about the "objectification" of females in games don't just want some games to cater to their opinions, but for ALL games to. It's absurd that people could possibly be so self-centered that they can't accept anybody enjoying something that they don't agree with.Never should've taken anyone serious who used TERA and SB as an example of to revealing of armors. Anyone who uses those two MMO as an example of revealing armor, clearly isn't smart enough to grasp that concept that revealing outfits is part of the very CONCEPT OF THOSE GAMES!
I'm begging for a moderator to close this topic.
I vote for a close too, it's an insane complaint to take up in a game that features only a handful of skimpy armors, especially when said armors are skimpy on both sexes.
You can tell how desperate and pathetic a complaint it is to have in this game when all they've got is "Dragoon Tummy window rabble rabble". Arguing how impractical it is to have it when the armor itself wouldn't allow the person wearing it to sit down, mount a living creature, or just about do anything as acrobatic as what they are intended to be doing without impaling and goring their own bodies.
Stop grasping at straws.
if i could just interject...there have been a lot of complaints about particular pieces of armor, such as evenstar, dragoon relic pieces, coliseum, etc.
But few mentions of the fact that these are only some of the pieces of gear in the game, and that this game has one of the most intricate glamour systems in all of MMOs.
You literally don't have to dress skimpy to get the stats on a piece of gear. Don't like Evenstar? switch back to BLM relic
Don't like DRG chest? Try a mythril chainmail, or dye an armor blue.
You can look exactly as you want to look, just as the people using the gear can dress as they wish. The only people being sexualized are the ones who want to be.
And again, not all sets are this way. The Daystar set was absolutely gorgeous, and most of the ironwork sets are always really well done. I had only one issue of recollection when making my last set, and it was fixed using a royal breeches glamour.

I'm trying to find some indication that they did infact checked this topic, but I failed to do so. How do you know it caught their attention ?
XD I know my choice of examples may be quite infamous, I myself think both of them are terrible work of art, but that just my opinion. Is just that both of them are very famous recent cases of fan service books and films. (Although you can argue that Shades is more of a erotic novel / porn )Anyhoo. Elgeron made a seemingly good post a few pages back, but I stopped reading at the mention of *barf*Hack*barf*Twilight*barf* to really get the grasp of the post, but it looked promising. LOL this thread got like 3-4 pages after a nights sleep...

Actually, i love TERA online. It's one of the few KMMOs that doesn't lean on its sex exploitation to carry the gameplay -- the actual game is fun as hell and it's PVP is solid. Can't speak for SB though, but i'd rate it 10^3 worse than TERA off screenshots of its cutscenes alone. TERA is horrifically sexed up, but its story actually takes itself seriously at least, all the NPCs aren't naked females.Never should've taken anyone serious who used TERA and SB as an example of to revealing of armors. Anyone who uses those two MMO as an example of revealing armor, clearly isn't smart enough to grasp that concept that revealing outfits is part of the very CONCEPT OF THOSE GAMES!
PSO2 though is just disgusting, it's a terrible game AND 99% of its NPCs are female AND they're all sub-12 years old AND its one of those games so shameless in its demographic that the entire male gender is excluded from content
Male characters in this game are allowed to go entirely topless. Why are female characters forced to wear a bra? This is horribly sexist and objectifying. Females should have the right to show their bodies just the same!
It's pretty much been acknowledged by all that this game is NOT an outrageous offender. By and large, anything skimpy on a woman is skimpy on a man, and anything covering up a man covers up a woman as well. It DOES have a few examples, though, such as the Coatees sets and, of course, the tired old Dragoon example, so it IS guilty, to a lesser degree.
Regardless, while there are some folks calling for action, the main point of this debate is to bring to light the double standards that people take for granted, and talk about whether they do alienate people, and whether they're okay. A surprising number of male (and sometimes female!) gamers casually accept that gaming is a men's world, and while women are welcome, they have to accept that games are made for men, and that women simply have to put up with the sometimes tame, sometimes outrageous sexism in the games.
This accepted "truth" is becoming less and less true as time passes. FFXIV (and FFXI before it) is a step in the right direction, but that doesn't render it free from criticism when it falls short! If devs are actually reading this thread, hopefully they'll acknowledge that we're saying they've done an admirable job, but there's still room for improvement.
Equipment designs of all sorts are welcome - the more the better! - but the same piece of equipment on a man shouldn't automatically transform into "sexy and revealing" when put on a woman.
