I know now this game isn't for me. I'm not resubbing next month.
Not boycotting the game. You don't have to buy every dlc or optional content for a video game to enjoy it.
I've yet to purchase anything from the cash shop outside of my two extra retainers. I don't feel as though my experience in the game has been changed in the slightest because someone else is riding a Sleipnir mount or has a couple of minions I don't have.
I will most likely pay for the extra service for the Eternal Bond, though. Why? Because that's something that has some extra value to me and my partner. And that's all that matters to me.
And as long as all of the money goes back into the game to make it even better, and there's no pay to win, it really doesn't matter to me.
What's this, a nerd boycott? My, SE must really shudder at the thought, it's proven so effective in the past.
Wait. I thought the people that hated the cash shop already left? Judging from the threads when cash shop was announced during the fanfest. So, this is part two of threatening to leave?
Was there a question in there somewhere? You never actually told us in your entire post what, exactly, we would be boycotting and why. Do you mean boycott the marriage thingy period? Boycott it if it's put into the cash shop? Boycott the cash shop? What are you talking about? You never actually made a point or said what it is we would be boycotting or why. I don't really give a crap about the marriage system in general, could not care any less one way or another about it, and don't see why anyone else would care at all one way or another, same with the cash shop. But seeing as how I have no idea what you're actually asking if I'd boycott, that's the closest thing I can give to an answer.
I'd boycott but sadly I have to admit their offers are cheaper than those found in-game.
Say they put the coeurl swimwear (top and bottom) at 2.80£ like they did for Howling Spirit. That equals to 1/5 of my subscription, which could be converted in 5-6 days of subscription, and the money goes to SE.
In-game, buying that set costs up to 1.5M-2M. How long does it take me, a casual, to farm that amount of gil? At least ten days. To give the gil not to SE, but to one anonymous crafter who thinks a level 1 item should cost millions (or the guy he bought the mats from did). So it's costing me more real-money (of subscription days spent farming instead of doing something I like) than the cash shop is.
I've only bought the Sleipnir mount so far and it's already paying off, 16€ is a little over a month of subscription, and I've spent well over 3 months trying to get the Nightmare mount.
Maybe this wasn't what you wanted to hear, but a lot of people seem to miss this point on Cash Shop.
Me, I'm for now boycotting in-game crafted vanity items. Those prices are definitely not worth it to me. I'm slowly climbing my way towards 3-star crafts though, so maybe one day I'll have them too.
