    Regarding glamour restrictions

Q22: Are there any plans to remove restrictions on the glamour system (unable to glamour gear that the job/class cannot equip)?

A22: Unfortunately, there’s a certain image that we would like to sustain for FINAL FANTASY XIV. We feel that it would confuse the new players if they see casters in heavy armor and tanks in mage gear.

However, if there’s any specific gear you would like to glamour, we will consider those requests individually so please request them through our official forums.
Alright! I have some suggestions on items that I'd like to be able to glamour to a caster:

Hempen Tunic - It's a level 1 chest piece, no stats, yet restricted to only Disciples of War. Allow casters to glamour that too!

Boarskin Moccasins - These are just boots. As are the other moccasins throughout the game. Let casters also be able to glamour them.

Those are really, the only restricted items I'd like to see glamourable.

I see very little point to the glamour restrictions, especially since there are vanity and event pieces, that have no equipment restrictions. The only thing I find "confusing" is their logic. Seems like a big contradiction to me. People can glamour their i100+ armor to look like they're in their underwear, and the developers want to "sustain a certain image?" They really need to find a better excuse.

They should just restrict the glamour to whether or not the player can actually equip the piece. If they want to restrict glamours entirely, in dungeons or PvP, that's fine too. However, if people are wandering in the street, in whatever they want to look like, I really doubt too many people will care.

I think what they were refering to, is like job gear. They don't want a white mage running around looking like a dragoon, and such, which I am okay with. But some pieces of gear that is crafted, I feel should have a free for all status when it comes to glamour. Like the Hempen Tunic. It's level 1, has no stats, yet only meant for disciples of war? That is kinda a dumb restriction that should be removed.

I understand their logic, and it makes sense, at least in combat only areas. However, there are plenty of glamour equipment pieces, already allowed in the game, that would contradict this reasoning. They's allow a tank to glamour themselves in a bathing suit, but they don't want a "white mage running around looking like a dragoon." There are also plenty of vanity items that do not match certain job armor types.

I say if the player has reached the requirement to equip the item, they should be able to glamour it (iLvl restriction permitting). If the devs and/or other players have an issue with how certain players decide to dress themselves, they should add an option to turn off glamour effects for that individual player, depending on the location (dungeons, FATEs, town, everywhere, etc). That way, in the unlikely event that anyone would find someone's outfit distracting, they can always turn glamours off.
