Um I think you are reading it wrong, the 2nd part of that sentence is in relation to the question asked not the demand of land itself.

In this the question is asking will they increase the limit of the amount of furniture, in which they respond

They are prioritizing addition of land first and they don't know the demand in which people want to add additional furniture so they haven't focused on that first.

You have to keep in mind, by increasing the furniture cap it also increases stress on the server and what they've done instead is prioritize the amount of land that can be bought over adding any additional item limits to the current housing.

Think of it like this
Say small=20, medium=40 and large=80.

If you then increase the limit by 10 each then you are pretty much adding one half a small house per small/medium/large house and that in itself would mean there is more data going throughout the servers that needs to been kept in check.

This question would be more related to what the OP was talking about. This is disappointing to me and my FC because we'd be saving up with the assumption that there'd be Ishgard housing wards at launch or very soon after launch. It seemed logical to us that this should happen based on the state of current housing wards on our server. We literally have 0 small plots left on the server in both the main divisions and subdivisions. They were all sold out within 2 weeks of the new subdivisions being implemented and we believed there to be a need for even more housing wards to meet this housing deficit. Sigh... At least we'll be able to channel the funds gathered so far towards airship and better prizes for fc events. :/

That has always been the most logical solution, but logic is too much for our devs, now you have dead servers like Zalera and such getting the same hardware upgrades when they don't even have housing issues.

I think the problem is that, as usual, the translations leave room for misinterpretation. It's more that until this point they were still figuring out how to deal with the supply problem (i.e. how hard they could push the servers, etc.), but they think they've got that figured out now, so while they'll continue to add housing capacity going forward, they should also be able to re-evaluate the capabilities/utility of each house at some point soon (but after the team is done working on their current tasks).

There wasn't an intention to say that they've figured out the supply issue (as if the supply problem were solved, as they do say they'll keep adding capacity), but rather that they've figured out how they're going to deal with it going forward. (Although, as was pointed out, on many servers you might say the supply problem is solved. Right now the supply problem is specific to the super-popular servers given that they all have the same quantity.)

Considering that the new subdivisions have been available for some time now and anybody that wants a house (including frugal people who have waited for the houses to drop to minimum price) can still buy one because there is still open plots in the goblet on most servers that to me would say that they have reached saturation of housing. My impression is that as people who stick with the game get richer through just generally playing they might want to move into one of the empty Mediums, thus relinquishing the small for another person.

Unless the game gets more popular I can't imagine that they will require more housing, I would like to say that as suggested above they offer extra housing to more populated servers and take it away from the dead ones but I don't know how tricky that is programming/server side for them.

Personally I would like them to finally add the chance for us to sell plots of land (with houses intact to some degree) so that allows people and free companies that have purchased smaller plots to finally move into a larger property that they can afford without throwing away a bunch of hard work and gil that they invested on their first property.

It doesn't tell me that there's a saturation of housing, it tells me that the Goblet is an undesirable living space and Lavender a highly desirable one.

Those servers that have sold all small housing plots can come steal houses from Mateus......the goblet doesn't have a single ward full and last i checked not even 1 plot in the new sub divisions had sold.

To those saying there are free spots on certain worlds: Ye! just abandon your character on your current server where you can't buy a house so you can get one! why care about the rest of the worlds when a few have open spots right?
