    Guild Wars 1 henchman system?

"Q10: In a previous interview, you mentioned that we will able to tackle instanced dungeons by ourselves. Are there still plans to implement this feature?

A10: Yes, there are still plans to implement this feature. While there isn’t too much we can reveal at this time, just to give you a preview, we are currently discussing a new type of content where you will control your own unit for your grand company, add NPCs in your unit, and take them to dungeons to level them up."

    YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

I like it. Give us a gambit system to go with it and I'll be a happy miqo'te hahaha. It could keep me busy for quite some time.

I was about to make a thread about this but someone already made one here, so I'll post my intended OP:

Ok, so the devs have mentioned that they want to implement squad members from your GC to run dungeons with, leveling them in the process. Here are a couple of things I'd ask the devs to consider:

    - Appearance: Please let us customize the appearance of squad members as well as gear. Even if the gear is only superficial (meaning squad ilvl and stats are independent of the equipment they wear), this would help us make the party we want to make rather than being forced to use templates.

I'd implement this as a recruitment option, where after meeting the reqs to train a squad, you talk to a GC officer and they allow you to "recruit" (create) squad members as well as give them names (codenames or aliases, perhaps?).

    - Class options: I'd place less emphasis on class and more on the weapons, especially in light of DRK not having a class but I may want a squad member that uses a greatsword.

    - Uses outside of dungeons: Needless to say, we should be able to summon one squad member to assist us in the overworld in place of our standard companion chocobo. This would give us an additional way to level squad members while also giving us something else to see outside of chocobo.

Squad members summoned in the overworld would mount when you do and directly assist you (meaning they will attack what you attack) in combat.

    - Squad Synergy: As a bonus for keeping the same squad together, they could have a separate bar that fills up as the squad defeats monsters. Once the bar fills they gain a boost to stats. In the event one squad member is dismissed and replaced with someone else, the bar's progress is lost and needs to be refilled. This is more to simulate cohesiveness in a squad the longer they operate together.

    -------------------------

Personally, I'd love for gear to be superficial, as retainer ilvl has taught me how much of a pain it is to gear something aside from your own main class, and I would not want that multiplied by 3 with a squad.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

Omg! If anyone has played FFXII, knows about the auto level gambit set. I left my PS2 on all night and in the morning lvl 99 chars lmao. I would love to see that system brought back in some way cause it was very in depth and I really enjoyed it. I also hope SE doesn't cheap out and give us straight commands *cough* chocobo *cough* to control party npcs.

Still would like to see more discussion and suggestions on this. Yes, NIN is getting nerfed and "step up" weddings costing real life money sucks, but there are other things worth talking about here. >.>

A Gambit system for these npcs would be perfect. And custom race/appearances. If we're going in leveling, we're going in pretty!

Am just wondering how there class system is going to work. I never stick to the same class for to long so if I cant change them without having to do huge resets its going to be a pain. (Don't get me wrong just because I don't play the same class all the time dose not mean I don't focus gearing up 1 first ether WAR or BLM). Or will it come down to we will get more then plenty to fill any role we might need.

I'm not a big fan of this, but at least the option is going to be there.
