Note: Men's side is down a judge this week. My apologies.

Men's Contest Judge Scores and Feedback

    Adam Fylrmyn

Judge A: "I like the background and the angle of this shot, it feels very serene and your outfit does the scene justice. The lighting somehow works even thought it seems as though it's shot in complete shade. It's a very decent shot all around." Score: 2

Judge B: "I really like that you opted to reach out to the Touched Sylphs for your shot. The overall composition works, your outfit says trust me and it looks as if you are interacting with Sylphs as much as they are with you. You managed to stay the focus and the npc’s enhance your story. Good job!" Score: 3

Judge C: "I think the outfit is quite cleverly matched and the pose is definitely charming! The background shows distance too, which is great. It feels a bit simple with the straight-on, but I think overall it's well done. Keep pushing!" Score: 2

Judge D: "Love it! The colour matches wonderfully and you're lit in such a way that the eye is drawn to your face without washing out the clothing. I'm really feeling you as an ambassador here!" Score: 3

    Aiden Weaver

Judge A: "The pose and the attire work here, and although the background is a bit dark, the contrast of the scene really makes the kobold pop out and adds that special touch to the shot overall." Score: 2

Judge B: " I really enjoyed the subtle humor in this shot. The kobolds are one of my favorite races partly because at times they seem so clueless, naïve and almost childlike. You captured that well in this shot. My only real critique this round is that I wonder if the impact would have been better if you had been sitting down and dozing instead of standing. Good job overall though" Score: 2

Judge C: "LOVE the humor. I appreciate going for the expression matching in addition to the outfit matching. Even the ears! I'm just very conflicted about the background. On the one hand, the lighting really focuses your expressions and emphasizes that strong suit. But on the other hand, it'scose to pitch black and has very little depth to it. Regardless, I love it. " Score: 2

Judge D: "Cute! I love the way you really injected some personality into it. I just feel as if the background is a little -too- dark." Score: 2

    Epsil Ion

Judge A: "I like this shot but I do find that your posing may be a little too much in this shot. It kind of distracts away from the beastmen in the background as if you're snubbing them off in a strange model-ish kinda way. Regardless of that everything else is handled well in the photo, but the former glaring factor can't let me give you a higher score." Score: 2

Judge B: "Really beautiful shot once again. You are a master of lighting. My only issue now at this stage of the competition is that I want to see more than you standing in a scene. Interact, dance, fight, do something that draws me into your story. Hell, TELL me your story, shove it down my throat and make sure I know it, don’t make me try to guess. " Score: 2

Judge C: "This is definitely a good shot of you, but not so much of your beastmen pals. I can appreciate wanting to make sure you outshine your extras, but your buff is blurring out the closest ones to me. The light is hitting you fantastically, and the campfires are interesting in the background, but it's too dark to discern most of them. The pose is a bit familiar to your past ones, so make sure to switch it up! You have an eye for composition to be sure." Score: 2

Judge D: "It's a solid shot, but I feel that the Amalj'aa are just a backdrop rather than interacting with you. Some more working with the NPCs would have really pushed this one up." Score: 2

    Fate Lhas

Judge A: "The background is well inclusive to this shot, save for the red railing near the bottom. If that were to be taken out of the shot I feel like I could have given in a higher score. It just goes to show you how minor details can distract the viewers attention." Score: 2

Judge B: "I really like the playfulness of your shot as well as you and your sylph friend’s synchronization. The only thing that negatively affects this picture for me, is the lighting. It is a bit bright and feels out of place. You want to remember to place your sun minion at a height to mimic natural lighting (as best you can) as well as keep it at a distance that accentuates and flatters you. Still, good job. " Score: 1

Judge C: "I think the pose is very clever to try to match with the sylph! The background itself is also gorgeously thought out with so many things to pick up and focus on. At first I wasn't crazy about the outfit, but I think choosing the color of the boots and along with the brown and green in the robes really fits the bill for the sylph when thinking about. The only thing I could have done without is the orange table thing in the foreground. It just doesn't do anything for me. " Score: 3

Judge D: "You could easily have blended into the background on this one, which you managed to avoid so well done on that. While your clothing does match well with the Sylph I feel that it clashes somewhat with your skin tone." Score: 2

    Flare Raulbel

Judge A: "Not too excited about this shot, because I feel like the background is thrown together, the beastmen are all over and feel out of place in the scene. I feel like you chose to stand there to make yourself pop out, but theres not much to pop out from... Not to mention your foot would be melted off standing there... Perhaps you're getting "burnt out"?" Score: 1

Judge B: " Adorable shot. Your outfit and pose work well and I like how you are integrated among the beast tribe, learning their metalworking techniques. The lighting here I also really like; it’s soft yet bright enough to accentuate and give depth to the entire shot nor over power you. good job!" Score: 2

Judge C: "I definitely see the design choice for the clothes, and I like the interesting perspective of looking down at the forge, but it does feel a bit far away. This was on the border for me, for sure. I think if the pose had been stronger it would've sold me better, but it's just a bit confusing to me. Still, I think it's good nonetheless. " Score: 1

Judge D: "I see what you were going for with this and I like the concept! This is another shot though where I think the concept is better than the execution. Standing on the anvil like that just seems...strange. A decent attempt nonetheless." Score: 1

    Jinx Fireboot

Judge A: "This is the best shot this round, everything about this works. The attire, and the pose as if you're on of the chieftans guards who just immediately unsheathed their weapons in defense of the camera man. Great shot all around and deserves the highest score I can give." Score: 3

Judge B: "Amazing job on this shot. You look fabulous as one of the tribe. Your outfit , hair and face paint all come together well and even with another lala in your shot you remain the focus. I also like the composition as well as angle; it gives the photo depth. You did a great job." Score: 2

Judge C: "Overall, this shot is my favorite. Your outfit fits the bill perfectly, your pose is fierce, and we get an interesting perspective while at the same getting a strong shot of your face. While by itself the background wouldn't be very interesting, the light effect that the fire is playing makes it interesting when otherwise during the day it would be drab. The extra you've got helps out even further! Everything seems well thought-out, well done. " Score: 3

Judge D: "Who says Lalafell can't be scary? Very, very well done. Everything is well lit and the set up makes sense. The only reason this one didn't get a 3 is I only have two do give and the ones who I went with there had more interaction with the NPC. Other than that though, I can't think of an improvement!" Score: 2

    Marik Destiel

Judge A: "I feel like I just barely gave this a decent score. It's teetering on the side of a mish-mash of things jumbled into a scene without much care as to how it was done. That being said, I feel like it still pulls it off in a certain way. The attire you chose works well, and the background plus angle is fairly decent, but... The off centerness of the scene and the blinding lighting choice had me question if I had given it much higher a score than it deserved. " Score: 2

Judge B: "The more I look at this picture, the more I like it. Your outfit, interaction with the npc, as well as time of day all work together to tell your story. I get a relaxed, friends, kind of vibe here and if I didn’t know better I’d think that Ixali is laughing. Another shot to be proud of!" Score: 3

Judge C: "This shot has a lot of cool elements, like the outfit and pose working very well together. I think the angle of the shot sort of dampers it though. We don't get to see a lot of you. The floating dog head is a bit odd at first glance as well. The background itself is very pretty though. All the pieces are there. It's just you gotta figure out how to best arrange them, keep at it! " Score: 2

Judge D: "At first the wolf head showing was distracting. But the more I look, the less important that feels because of how flawlessly you've worked with the NPC. I really feel as if the Ixal is teaching you how to train a wolf of your own. The outfit choice, colouring, even the little lens flare...I love it all!" Score: 3

Women's Contest Judge Scores and Feedback

    Adeline Urusa

Judge A: "I like the outfit, the background, and the setting (rising?) sun. The pose as well. Concept wise I am not getting it though. Are you helping them fend off a monster? Is that part of an Ambassadors job description? I think a different pose, and less centering of yourself, would have been nice." Score: 2

Judge B: "I'm very fond of the positioning here, I can only imagine how tricky this shot was to get. Very exciting! My only eal complaint is that more of your face is hidden than I would like and compared to the Sahagin you take up so little of the shot due to the side angle." Score: 2

Judge C: "This is an example of when centering works well. Nicely done. I like your dynamic pose, your piratey look suits the Sahagin. Looks like all three of you are about to kick the ass of the camera man haha. I think I'd only like it more if you were turned ever so slightly to the right of the image, to see more of your body. But then I suppose it would ruin the line up of your lance. " Score: 3

Judge D: "I appreciate you capturing this pose soo much. I know it must have taken a few tries and for that it does stand out over all the other models but the set up of the shot is lacking. The setting around you is weak and while you have to know this is not bad it is a good piece just compared to the others this shot is a little awkward and doesn't feel very smooth I recommend next time maybe having you body slightly facing off toward the side to we can see those sexy legs without any foreshortening going on." Score: 1

Judge E: "I admire the colors of the shot, seeing the Sahagin up close, and the glamour. The plateau/flat, linear surface of the rockfaces in the background steal away from the movement of the overall composition, and actually make your character feel less dynamic to me. I also wouldn’t have minded seeing a different angle of your pose." Score: 2

    Eirwen Mackenzie

Judge A: "Three for Three Eirwen! This is another great shot! What is absolutely amazing abut this is that you are talking to the Elezen NPC with the Beastmen. Genius! I like the outfit, but the dress choice is not very professional. Haha. You’re not zoomed in enough for us the ignore the background, which is a little dull, but since there is so much going on in the foreground I don’t think the viewers would even notice the background. Amazing shot!" Score: 3

Judge B: "Beautiful. I feel like you're working as an interpreter for the Sylphs! Excellent choice of book too, really fits! I also love how you used that heart necklace to represent the chest piece the NPCs have. All around excellent job!" Score: 3

Judge C: "This is quite a nice set up. I like that you positioned yourself in between the two Sylph. You look kind of like someone inspecting new people coming into camp. That is the vibe I get from the book at least, your gear helps that theme too, doesn't look fancy enough to be in charge gear but is humble enough to be someone lower. The guy having his back to us is a good touch, keeps you in focus. Is that the Garuda tome? Nice choice. " Score: 2

Judge D: "Your facial expression...I love it! while this could have been improved with a little more appealing background the set up between you and the sylphs is very charming and they lush green bodies dont over power you in this composition. Great job with the set up of this scene and matching up an outfit." Score: 3

Judge E: "Very cute glamour, with the ribbons emulating a sylph’s petaled appearance. I like the effort you made even glamouring the Garuda book. The scene is very plain and safe to me, however. It’s okay looking, but does not excite me." Score: 2

    Iris Dawnshade

Judge A: "Outfit choice was great here. Matches wonderfully. Youre zoomed in enough to where the only part of the background that is viewable is the Goblin City up on the hilltop, and it looks nice. Sets the scene for where you are. Concept wise, are you helping the goblin catch the bombs? I am rooting for you to catch one, haha, but I don’t think its ambassador-y. Also, please don’t center yourself like this! Haha. Everything else though is great. I think this could have been a 3 if you weren’t centered, actually. You’re also very washed out! Is that the sun minion or just daylight on your pale skin?" Score: 2

Judge B: "Absolutely adorable! I love so much about this shot. Your outfit matches, the city in the background is well positioned and you really captured the feeling of the Kobold tribe we see. My only problem is that you're blocking off the NPC! Perhaps if it were positioned so you were facing him it would work better." Score: 2

Judge C: "This is quite cute! I like how you lined yourself up with the Kobold, and it shows them in another light - the cuteness I mean. In terms of improvement, I feel it is a bit bright, you look very glowy! I wish you were positioned a bit to the left as well, so you and the Kobold would be in line without you being right in front of him. " Score: 2

Judge D: "...SOOO F*#$ING CUTE! I love the matching outfit and colors you really fit into this scene with the beastman the angle is a little awkward but you reaching out like that is just soo appealing to me. I love it!" Score: 3

Judge E: "Your lalafel has an undeniably joyful and cute look on her face as she reaches for the…bomb balloons? I’m a little confused at what this is portraying. I’m assuming you and the goblin are being playful. I like how the shot is angled to see the goblin habitats up top, and the depth the ramp gives to the overall picture. I wish your character didn’t cover up the goblin so much behind you. It took me a moment to understand that it was an actual goblin behind you." Score: 1

    Kaiyoko Star

Judge A: "I appreciate the claw coordination! I think the outfit choice is really strong because the beastmen is also wearing an outfit that is similar in shape. Concept wise, and Background are lacking for me though. I have not personally interacted with these Beastmen yet, so I can’t say what I would have done different, like maybe choosing a different NPC to talk to in the area or if there was a more appealing camera angle you could have taken this shot from, but maybe if you had zoomed in more so I couldn’t see so much of that boring background? Maybe if you had had a friend dressed in crafting clothes stand in the left side looking in the direction the two of you are pointing? I think one of those two choices could have had this image score higher with me." Score: 1

Judge B: "I imagine in this shot that you've popped up to interrupt the NPC giving an order and he's looking at you as if to say 'Where the hell did she come from?'. The shot overall though is too dark, with the lighting on you standing out oddly." Score: 2

Judge C: "The lighting here is done nicely, I like how you're lit up while the Ixali is a bit darker. We know they are all about crafting so your crafty gear is a nice touch. As is the use of their gloves. Because you seem to be pointing in sightly different directions, this gives me the feeling that you guys are disagreeing on the placement of something. So I wish your expression looked a bit more fierce. It's a nice concept though, I only feel like the background is very bland in comparison to some of the others, which is why I gave the 1 (We have to give two 1 scores.)." Score: 1

Judge D: " I do like the matching poses but I with there was a little more going on. I think adding more of that deep purple would have helped you to match more and a red head piece too could only have benefited you. Step it up!" Score: 1

Judge E: "It’s an amusing situation – that you’re comfortable enough and friends enough with the beastmen to both look like you’re scolding someone together. I am not a fan of the dark and plain background of rock." Score: 1

    Lowena Fae

Judge A: "Lowena! You’re officially banned from using the Sun Minion! Haha. Or is that just the effect of your spell? I like the concept of using magic to communicate with the Beastmen, instead of a book or words, but this image is so bright! You zoomed in enough for us to ignore the background, but it’s a good background either way. Props for off centering yourself though! If this image wasn’t so bright, I definitely could see it getting a higher score." Score: 1

Judge B: "This is another example of concept being stronger than execution, I'm afraid. I like how you attempted to match the Sylph using facepaint (which I cannot think of as another other than Mr. Face paint now). But combined with the white dress and spell, it all adds up to feel overly bright and washed out." Score: 1

Judge C: "I quite like this, it's an interesting shot and the both of you are positioned nicely. I like how your staff centers the image. The reason I am giving a one though is the lighting just seems to wash everything out. I didn't even realise you had make up on until I saw your alternate shots in the discussion topic. The make up is a nice touch however, mirrors the Sylph's pale faces. " Score: 1

Judge D: "Im a sucker for expressions. I love your face here but you and the Sylph seem a bit washed out. I think this is from the light from an ability. Be cautious next time." Score: 2

Judge E: "I noticed a few things about this picture. The lighting, your character’s peaceful expression, and…props…Odin weather. I like the contrast between your character/the sylph and the muted background, but this seems to be another case of playing it plain and safe to me. I’m wondering how you got the soft lighting in this picture. It’s nice, with your glamour." Score: 2

    Rhaya Relenah

Judge A: "The background is boring but it’s a pretty color. The pose is boring but the concept of communicating with the NPC as an ambassador is there. I am curious why you took this picture from this angle and not slightly to the right? If you had more of that pink Coral in the shot I think this would have been really nice. The outfit, while not ambassador like to me, for some reason really fits in with the Sahagin to me. I don’t know why. Haha." Score: 1

Judge B: "I love how you chose the beast tribe well to work with your skin tone and I -really- love how you managed to make yourself look as if you're wet! The shot itself feels a little unbalanced though, with the Sahagin taking up all that room on the left and a lot of empty space on the right." Score: 2

Judge C: "I like your choice of beast clan, once again using your skin colour to your advantage. The gear is nice too. I like your red accessories, they sorta compliment the Sahagin's red fins. The glowing lamp in the background is nice, and while it's not the most amazing background, it's colourfulness saves it from being boring. I only wish it were maybe zoomed in a bit more, the rule of thirds as it were." Score: 2

Judge D: "Daaamn way to add some spice!! I love the colors. While you do blend in with the beastmen that glistening of your skin sells this!! I love the garments. I just wish the beastman's face wasnt so awkward but its about you and you are the focus." Score: 2

Judge E: "I was really impressed with the glamour giving off the illusion of fins, spots and scales. It was really smart. I think if the lighting was different enough to play up the glow in your background and the sahagin on the right was facing towards the camera, this could have been a really wonderful shot." Score: 2

    Sakuraya Kai

Judge A: "I really like that you change your hairstyle for almost all the rounds! Gorgeous background, nice outfit, love the head heard and staff choices. Just noticed that you are asking the Sprite to hand over her knife. Nice! My only complaint is you are DEAD CENTER, which by now everyone should know I absolutely hate. If you had zoomed in, and off centered yourself, taking this picture from the waste up, you could have still gotten the pretty background, and the sprite with her knife, and we could have seen a nice shot of your face." Score: 2

Judge B: "I like that you've got a story going here of an ambassador from the Sylphs reaching out to their touched kin! That background is gorgeous as well. Unfortunately the background feels more of a focus than you are, combined with the Sylph being turned away from the camera. A slightly different angle would really have pushed this to the next level." Score: 2

Judge C: "This one echos my above in wishing it were closer. The background is lovely though, one of my favorite areas. I like how you dressed to represent the green Sylph and are interacting with a touched one. Looks almost like you are reaching out to them, trying to win them back perhaps? I love your staff and circlet too, they finish the look nicely. You did the lighting well, it can be a dark area but you are well lit without being OMG WHERE ARE MAH SUNGLASSES. " Score: 2

Judge D: " I need mooooooooore. I know your trying to be a green sylph but I think I needed a bit more. I do love the contrasting colors but I was totally distracted by the light colored flowers in the background and the light tones in your hair. Maybe if you have changed it to a dark green with a light ombre this would have worked better." Score: 2

Judge E: "The scenery, glamour (kudos for the weapon choice), and hairstyle are really beautiful. However, this whole scenario is severely suffering from not taking it at a better angle and possibly some zooming in. It is almost a “gameplay” shot to me." Score: 1

    Xev Bellwyn

Judge A: "I love your facial expression SO much. You are a very pretty Elezen indeed. I like that you zoomed in enough to make the background not important. But even the little bits we see, there is texture on the ground and the lantern light is pretty. I like the outfit choice, though it isn’t very professional for an ambassador, but I love the head piece. I love the idea of using the book to help translate! That’s the idea I got from this anyway. It’s very nice picture, and I love it." Score: 3

Judge B: "I wonder what the Sylph just told you that makes you look so shocked! One thing that really srands out for me is that the shot is well lit without being overpowering. I've also never seen that head gear before, but it fits perfectly! All around a great effort. Well done!" Score: 3

Judge C: "Out of the other Sylph candidates, I think I like yours the most. I like that it's night time with the nice glow of the lamp in the empty space. Some pretty leafy shadowing too. Your pose is nice, as is the expression. You look like the leader. :3 I love your gear. " Score: 3

Judge D: "I love the expression! So fiesty! Im a sucker for expression. I wanted to give you a higher score but the back ground needed some work. I want more greenery and foliage!! I wanna see the Sylph glooow." Score: 2

Judge E: "Very great expression, glamour, and pose. I can actually come up with a story for this shot. It wasn’t until this shot that I had seen a sylph up close and really detailed. I really like the greens and purples of this shot, and the light source/bench that sort of breaks the purple-green up a little. It’s a good shot, but I am not overly excited about it." Score: 2
