    incredibly inconsistent lag spikes.

    hello, i hope no one else suffers from this but it has become a real problem to me to the point where i cant really play the game anymore making it kinda pointless to continue, but as soon as i log into the game, i rubberband a lot, i hit skills and they dont really go off etc.

    if anyone can advice on the situation, ive used wtfast and pingzapper. same issue, no solution. ive talked to my isp and they point fingers at SE, SE told me its the isp. im pretty sure its the isp and how they route the connection to the server.

    Same issues

    I didn't have this problem when the game first came out but it seems to be pretty bad now and i have called my ISP also and it is not there fault. Considering you have to end up going through a company called level 3 communications in canada to connect to the server if your US they are the problem. I did a trace route and thats the only spike and packet drop 215ms constantly.....

    It is sad it's going to come to people quitting when i enjoy the game but i can't heal groups with 10-15 second lag spikes constantly.

    Your ISP doesn't HAVE to use level3. Ormuco peers directly with 4 top tier providers, and three of them (TATA, Cogent, and Level3) provide peering/transit through about 7 corridors between Montreal and the US. Your ISP just needs to make arrangements for you to use a different partner if they can't resolve the issues with their level3 exchanges.

    Well i called and talked to people for 2 hours at TWC and they have no clue what the hell im talking about. They keep saying they aren't partnered with anyone..... so i guess i'm done with ffxiv til this is resolved.

    Sounds like you were dealing with Tier1 helpdesk associates... likely one with a minimal understanding of how the internet works.

    All last mile ISP's must partner with other providers or their users would only be able to reach content hosted on their own interconnected networks. Microsoft would have to have a connection to TWC for you to get Windows Updates. You would only be able to send email to TWC customers, on TWC's mail servers (no gmail accounts). And so and so and so forth. You also would not be seeing Level3 in your traces at all, much less Ormuco and SE's networks.

    Time Warner indeed DOES have agreements with Level3, Cogent, and TATA. I know... because I too am a TWC customer and they frequently switch me to a different one each time I start having issues with their services... sometimes they change things up before I contact them about it. I am in fact currently using Cogent out of Atlanta to get up to Montreal.

    You need to go back to them and push to deal with Tier3 support. They are the ones that can actually look at your trace route data (tracert) and escalate the matter for a more proper investigation and <hopefully> a solution.

    I spoke with level 1 and level 3 then level 3 said they only deal with the modems and sent me to level 2 they just hung up on me lol.... i guess i'm just dealing with people that don't care if someone can actually play on games they want when they pay high prices for there internet i have given up at this point... just seem like what i am saying isn't getting through to anyone there.

    Good grief... that's just ridiculous. Get better response from their forums, and it's mostly user-to-user like over here. May want to send a stern letter to their customer support email:
