If they were to do something like this it could also bring some life to older content if they were to make converting previous raid gear (First, Second, Final Coil and CT/ST) the way to get said materia.

I'd definitely like to see a broader range of options for what effects materia would give, I was a big fan of the way they did gear in XI (pre-Abyssea) though...so yeah.
