Normal lags or PS3 display issues

I know how devestating Titan Ex can be, and completing it with lags is nearly impossible...

Have you ever thought that you were absolutely sure you have missed a Landslide or Weight of land and still get hit by it? First I thought, more experience and practice may be needed to overcome this challenge and then I start to witness strange activity such as LS casted and executed in quick pace or WoL skipped but still takin the hit. I started to predict when I couldnt react... unitl, one of the players said something about changing the display setting (something like disabling smoothing) that can improve syncronization. This issue is also appearing with T5 Divebombs, or in particular, at challenging AOE circles.

    Appreciate your input on this..

I've beaten titan and turn 5 just fine on ps3. I'll assume you're a competent player so the only other reason you're not beating it is because you have lag issues. You should check your internets route to your ffxiv data center. The pathing could be bad that increases your lag values. It also helps to hardline over using wireless. Oh yeah I forgot about this since its been awhile since I played in ps3 but it also helps to press a skill command when you're clear of an aoe so the server registers your current position faster.

If you're not using an SSD, one of the problems on PS3 is that it'll be slow to load in custom AoE indicators and attacks, as the game engine doesn't pre-load any of it due to RAM considerations.

When I used to do Titan Ex on PS3, I used Titan's cast bar as a more reliable indicator as to whether I avoided an AoE on time rather than what the AoE effects showed. Memorizing the rotation and getting ready to move helps also.

It's also one of the reason why T5 had one of the divebomb safe spots nicknamed the PS3 pit.

Thanks for the advice Sylvie, Ill try connecting router through wire lets hope it works well. Gratz for completing both, and it takes an amazing player to do so.

I did both Titan EX and T5 on ps3 as well. But not before I wired it straight into the router.
Especially Titan EX is so unforgiving with the lockout. Even when I knew the rotation by heart it still caught me off guard from time to time.
Like said by others, it also helps when you filter out certain fx to save cpu and to make important stuff load faster on your screen.
i.e. Just initials instead of full names, no specials animations except your own, shadows etc...

Titan Ex is one of the extreme examples of where legitimate lag will kill you almost all of the time.
That being said, there's a normal discrepancy between attack telegraph, attack register, and attack animation. As long as you get the feel for this and know when it is and isn't safe to stand in an attack you will certainly see improvement overall.

I don't get why this never got adjusted. You should see damage dealt from an attack immediately, not a whole second after you got registered for damage, just to play out the animation that should have started during the aoe indicator, not after it fades out.

It'd alleviate confusion for new players also who thought they were out of an AoE just because they were 'out' when the attack animation played.

Well, player animations aren't always timed to the point of registering damage either.
But as far as enemy attacks go, as long as you are out of the telegraph as the telegraph itself is removed from view, you're more than likely considered safely out of the attack. I try to let new players know this as soon as I can. I'll even go drag them out to stand infront of some low level wolves to get neck ripped a few times to showcase it.
