Getting hit by others' enemy AoE while DoL gathering

The people doing this are usually not level 50 (except for the North Shards location, where level 50s will still aggro the hapalits and level 50s actually have a reason to pass through the area because the Another Notch on the Torch FATE is one needed for animus books and probably hunts). Every time I've had this happen at this particular location it was a level 20ish dude (in lowbie gear; as in not an experienced level 50 dude who was just level synced down) who was likely unaware the kedtrap would even try to AoE them and therefore wasn't paying attention to other people standing in the potential range.

Again, my point still stands though, whether it's intentional griefing or not, I still believe it should be changed. It's way too easy for this sort of thing to occur.

Maybe. Still... some people do prefers part of realism in it, and having dangers are one of them. Not saying that I against it, but I didn't really object it either.

Back when rank B was still aggro type, I was laughing my ass off when that stupid Monarch Ogrefly aggroed me while I was gathering nearby. Out of 5 aggro, not only it successfully interrupted me each time, it manages to rape me twice I think. I do complain a bit back then, but when I think about it, it's still kinda funny. XD

Again... it's not even a real danger. It's just a huge annoyance, much like how getting heavied on a mount is, except this can actually be utilized by other players as griefing if so inclined.

Also, "danger" can generally be circumvented with proper care and planning. There is not a damn thing you can do about something like this if someone just happens to bring a mob by you while you're gathering, whether intentionally or not.

Last night there was a x3 gloom window in mor dhona and as i usually spend my evenings before bed winding down with big fishing after doing all my dailies/raids, I thought I would give Canavan/Kuno a try. So here I am, food on, in stealth fishing and for the first 2 glooom windows I didn't mooch a single HQ goldfish, only nq and assasain betas. Then I get a HQ mooch! Its a Goldfish, I cast my line in for a try at a Canavan and ... somebody runs along the path behind me, triggers a Hapalit and it does an aoe. Right. On. Me.

So I get cancelled from my fishing, get unstealthed and stand up. I sat there for a good 2 minutes just looking at my character on the screen, so full of 'nope' that I just logged off there an then.

Pretty sure it was unintentional, just a by protuct of a persons movement and the mobs AI, but damn. I didn't even care how much time i had left in the weather window or the food duration, I was just over it.

I am a bit speechless myself. Kinda expected, but still...

Anyways, don't give up. There's already someone carrying that Ironwork fishing rod. You can make it. ^^

I read probably the first 3-4 pages and then this last page. I love sweet vindication when arguing why a game mechanic is bad against someone who vehemently defends it and then the devs change the mechanic. Thanks Fynlar for paving the way for me as I start leveling a botanist lol.

Why do gatherers get auto enrolled into FATES (that happen to spawn on top of gathering locations to boot)? Gatherers cannot participate in FATES. But it will still interrupt gathering or flat out kill us.

FATEs that are 6 or more levels above you (which you would normally need to level sync to take part in, and which DoLs don't even get the option to do) won't have their enemies aggro you, as far as I can tell. So at least by the time you're 50, most gathering locations would be safe from FATE pops, in conjunction with this change.
