As it happens rather frequently. During some days of gathering I could report in the order of 3 - 5 players who would pack mobs and just be a douche to go stand on top of you to let AoE's hit off. Sometimes coming with the notion afterwards of "sorry, thought you were botting" or along those lines.
So well yeh, glad to see this change come. And I'm sure GM's are too. As I can imagine they'd easily receive thousands of such reports per week from players getting harassed by players who like to play judge, jury and executioner in their pointless hunt for bots.
From all those replies, I can only assume that those who were intended to disrupting gatherers are in fact Trolls, using lame bot excuses or whatever excuses they throw at you.
However, if these claims are true, that this sort of annoyance happens even several times in daily, I guess we have too many trolls to handle, thus having this fix implemented was necessary.
I find it strange though that there would be fisher bot since majority of the catch are worthless in market, and the rare/big fishes needs certain exclusive action like mooching or certain weather. This is definitely not an bot excuse to be trolled, and whoever disrupting you while fishing are definitely trolls. That is, unless someone can say otherwise.
Unspoiled nodes are hourly pop. I suspect that player who interrupted you have some sort of personal vendetta. I also know of those frequent cluster pops, but it still doesn't give someone justice to interrupt, whatever reason they have.![]()

On the other hand, just the other day my GF and I were fishing for Marrow Sucker (requires rain) in Drybone. A FATE spawns right on top of the little pond where you fish for it. Someone came along and started doing it, basically playing normally, and the FATE is comprised of a bunch of low level slugs that spam the little ground targeted AOE. We had to move into a little nook and hope none of them got close enough to hit us to continue fishing, and yes, currently low level FATE ground target AOEs still hit level 50 fishers.

I was fishing for Kuno the Killer at North Shards. I had an Assassin Betta mooch and was waiting for the bite. A nearby person was killing the Hapital mobs nearby, and right on cue it did it's circle AoE and hit me, completely interrupting my cast. I will never know if I was meant to catch Kuno that day or not![]()
I cannot believe what I'm reading here. Why is it so important to oppose change to an issue that cannot be avoided.
Would you be happy if people could purposely/accidentally kick you from your expert roulette? (Do not even mention vote dismiss because that is not the same)
There are nodes which spawn every 70 minutes. That is a long time lost for something you cannot control yourself. Getting hit or cancelling to dodge means the node is lost. That is >>70<< minutes gone!
This happened today for me while gathering Redolent Logs. A lvl 9(?) Anole, that was pulled by another player hit me with a cone attack. Yes, even a lvl 9 enemy can interrupt your gathering.
What harm would it do to make it so only AoE which come from aggroing mobs hit you while gathering. There is no comparable issue for DoM/DoW classes. Not to mention, similar anti-griefing measures have been put in for DoM/DoW classes (DF withdraw lockout anyone?).
We are just asking for equal treatment.
I'm pretty sure they changed it recently so that you cannot get hit by other player's enemy aoe if you are in stealth mode. So even if you're in a low level area if you are tapping an important node hit stealth to be safe.

I got hit by AoE's from a FATE gathering clusters while stealthed in Mor Dhona about 2 weeks after that supposed fix, but it was just the once and it's not had a chance to fail again in my presence since I'm quite careful about it. Don't know if that was just a fluke bug or if there really is still something wrong with their system.
There's actually a weird thing with FATE mobs doing AoE's; they can hit you whether you're synced or not. The egg from the Hatchingtide FATE was awful because of that huge AoE. I got slowed by it so many times trying to run past it. xDI got hit by AoE's from a FATE gathering clusters while stealthed in Mor Dhona about 2 weeks after that supposed fix, but it was just the once and it's not had a chance to fail again in my presence since I'm quite careful about it. Don't know if that was just a fluke bug or if there really is still something wrong with their system.
