    One of my favorite Dark Knight/Shadowknight abilities was from a game on the PS2 call Champions: Return to Arms, it was a console version of Everquest.
    Shadowknights got an ability called Raise Army which would bring back the enemies you killed and they would chase down and attack any mobs on the screen.

    They weren't as strong after bringing them back from the dead and they would die quickly to bosses, but it was still a great and fun ability to watch them swarm everything. Once you got the ability powered up you could have like 20 of them all following you around ready to jump on the next mob you encounter.

    I honestly just hope we don't get pigeon-holed into a single job type. I loved playing DRK in FFXI, and think it would be a natural progression for MRD, but I think it would be better to have more than 1 option per class. I know a number of GLA's that would rather not be stuffed into a PLD job as their only option. Giving each class the option between offensive and defensive job builds would give unheard of flexibility in party building and dynamics.

    Of course, that being said, your OP makes a lot of sense to me! Here's kind of what I had in mind with each class when I began playing XIV. Of course, everyone's opinions on this will vary even after the jobs are actually announced.

    MRD==>Dark Knight
    GLA==>Paladin
    PUG==>Monk or Ninja
    ARC==>Beast Master
    LNC==>Dragoon
    CON==>White or Red Mage
    THM==>Black Mage or Summoner
