Event working as intended?

While I was collecting ashes for the event today, I noticed that you could do so without actually contributing to mini-game (bomb escort).

Since my first few runs, I've noticed several people simply idling near the furnaces while 1 or 2 people are doing all the work to bring the bomb to them.

Was this how the event was intended to work? I would think it would be set up so that only players participating in escorting the bomb (defeating chigoes, landing emotes etc) would receive a reward.

There can only be a limited number of players who can contribute to escorting the bomb. This is apparent when you spam the emote during escorting and it doesn't register, because said Bomb only need 1 emote to move x distance, any more emote will not "proc". Therefore it is working intended, because locking people out of an event due to too many players are already there is not a good way to do it.

I suggest you just enjoy the event and forget about the whole "working as intended" unless the Bombard stuck in its path. You think it's funny for people getting locked out of Behest?

The problem comes in when there are only two people doing anything and every one else is standing around with there thumbs stuck up there rears doing bugger all.

If there is enough people to do the event I'll just idle :/ no need to run with them when there is 1 person who can 1-shot AoE those little chigoes and 10+ people spamming emote :P If there isn't much people around I'll do it with them.

In the busy Hamlets it's not too bad since there are many people helping, I will even go out if I am bored. But I was at the wineport hamlet and I could see that as a problem because there is only like 4 or 5 people doing it, and 1 or 2 doing the run and killing the mobs. Alport, Owl's Nest, quarrymill and the golden bazaar have like 20-40 people there and 10-15 running the bomb, at least on Besaid.

But yeah seems like they would of had it where you had to at least emote the bomb once during it.

That will be very very very hard because there are not "only" 40 people at the crowded Hamlet. Remember, game engine won't render more than 40 models... Again, you don't want people to get locked out of a simple event that yield nothing more than some swim suits, do you?

Think that's why they have it the way it is. But I was just saying that for those that want everything fair, like "ooo I did all the work, how come you leech off my work". I myself don't mind the event the way it is.
