At the end of the day, the risks outweigh the rewards and the costs outweigh the benefits. By a long shot.
Definitely agree giantslayer.

In 1.0, even though I was far more interested in combat / raiding, I still took the time to grind and craft; it was attainable and you never felt like your efforts were going to be wasted.

At the current fast pace of Patches & Upgrades in 2.0, and the increased RNG / grinding / costs, I feel like it's just not worth it to grind and try to upgrade all my crafts now.

Especially with 3.0 Heavensward coming out Spring 2015 (we're already in December 2014!), it's like, "Why bother? EVERYONE will have to upgrade their gear yet again for Level 60 Cap."
