Make a mouse over macro for Cover and actually use it. A lot of times it's safer to Cover a DPS or healer that manages to pull off of you and then reestablish hate rather than letting them take a few hits before you manage to get the mob back (especially if Provoke is down). Here's the macro I use:

    /micon "Cover"
    /ac "Cover" <mo>

Makes it super easy to use the ability since I bound it to a mouse button. I just mouse over a party member and click a button.

My advice would be - switch targets often. Monitor aggro from all the monsters, you never know what pugstars will do.
Be aware. You don't faceroll trash like a warrior, so, know what you can do and what you need to do.
Switch targets often. I typically spread my ROH rotation over at least two mobs, maybe 3, sometimes stuffing the first component off on a critter that nobody's paying much to yet.
Don't get addicted to Flash - it pales in aggro generation in comparison to your other abilities, and functions off a slightly different gcd (spellspeed, not skillspeed). Also remember Flash has a debuff component - Blind is a great debuff, you shouldn't need to Rampart until the foes become immune to Blind.
Also, remember to often switch targets.
    Fear SCH/BLM/NIN parties. :O
