Is it just me that thinks its silly that we dont just have search for party flag like we did in ffxi?
To much reinventing the wheel .

It's a pretty major problem from what I've seen from LS mates. I can appreciate adding "depth" to the party system but as it is now I'd much rather have XI's. Here's to hoping they can fix it up considering it seems they're making party content more focused.
I just made a post on Dev Tag 1079 for this issue in the User Interface section. It targets this issue exactly. They seriously need to bring that in. If they did, I bet the way people play would completely change. Everyone would be using a party to do battle. Nobody will bother now because the current system is awkward and provides the user with no information about what's going on in the game at any given moment. It lacks robustness and ability to insert small comments about your situation. FFXI has many functions that would fit into XIV perfectly and would enhance this game immensely. It might even make the difference and bring some people back to the game. They really do need to have a good look at what obviously works in their past success and quit trying to reinvent the wheel in so many times over.
If it isn't broke... Don't fix it!!!! Hello SE? Anyone home?
Although many people I'm sure will disagree, FFXIV is it's own game, and simply porting over ideas that worked in FFXI into FFXIV will not automatically = success. I'm not suggesting I disagree with you, as I think a seek party feature would be very useful, but the devs have to operate this way to ensure there are not conflicting features 2 years from now or to prevent certain features from defining FFXIV and preventing them from trying other things.
Something like the Seek Party feature may seem awesome now, but down the road it may prevent other options. However we are totally oblivious to such plans and I really wish SE would open up WAY more, so we can have more input and give some suggestions BEFORE they've already started working on these features.
Technically there is one. You can list yourself as 'Seeking Party' and parties can search for others with that flag, it just happens to be a pretty bad implementation. =/

There actually is a Seek party option in the recruit section of the party search. It is annpying that it only lasts for 1 hour though, and does not show up by the player name as an icon.
K let me rephrase it than, Buy it should have a seek party flag like ffxi i mean, i should be able to simply hit seeking party, and than if someone one has a party formed and they are looking for members , he can simply type in a level range and it will show him players in that range, and it will say where they are . On the same theme, its abosultely insane to me i cant look on my linkshell list and see what levels my members are , what jobs they are , or where they are , makes having a linkshell kind of useless , might as well just use a third party program to talk to each other if thats all your getting out of the ls
O yes by the way id like to add, when you seek members they dont even have to be seeking a party, you can see any players in that range and than you can send them a /tell and ask them to party regardless if they have a seek party flag, on the ld ffxi system that is.
They need to add a /sea all function as well...so I can see who's on the world. Who is seeking at what ranks and they definitely need to add the function to seek for a party!
Because XIV hates XI for no apparent reason. ; ; When they made XIV, they only based this game on the bad things about XI, and did not take into consideration some of the features of that game its main playerbase in XIV would be used to, and if it ain't broken don't fix it, just improve it.
