I was on Masamune before 2.0. Now it's a JP server so im trying to transfer. I was considering leviathan but I'm wondering if there are good reason to go to a newer, lower populated server?

You can make big Gil out of small server but you will have a really hard time to find a raid I was once in a JP server with less then 50 English player on it finding a raid is impossible that was right after server transfer
I'm not too concerned with gil, in defiantly not staying on a JP server either way, and I'm not worried about people who went to leviathan from Masamune as I didn't make any friends really.
I'm wondering about the pros and cons of a transferring to a higher or lower pop US server.
The only real pros and cons you need to consider... Pros for a higher population, it can be easier to get into PF groups. Cons? Lots of strange people, and a lot more jag offs. Pros for a lower population? Usually a tighter community that most people know each other in. Cons? If you're not in a static, or have people willing to play with you, you're SOL to put it nicely.
Imo being on a higher pop server would make things easier for pf, but the downfall would be trying to buy a house. Just imo.
That's somewhat true on Adamantoise, yeah. Our server has a lot of cliques, and most are led by respectable people. It took roughly 1 month to start seeing t10/t11 pugs in party finder, whereas my static started downing it on the first week. Still, I feel smaller servers breed a more honest and upfront community, in which your negative actions will directly influence your future on the server. The only real pros and cons you need to consider... See that sounds cool to me, but do you think that these lower pop servers will also grow with time? Or will they be stuck small? That's somewhat true on Adamantoise, yeah. Also, are the EU/US servers generally the same performance-wise if I'm in the US? Moogle is one I'm considering but it is EU.
Whatever population growth the smaller servers may see will be small (if there is any growth at all) unless there is some sort of enticing incentive for people to flock there.
EU & US servers are all located in Montreal, Canada, so you shouldn't see a difference between them.
Gotcha. Thanks! I see you're on Jenova. That's one of the newest servers, yeah?Whatever population growth the smaller servers may see will be small (if there is any growth at all) unless there is some sort of enticing incentive for people to flock there.
