A small* number, which is the problem, if they give no rewards not enough will do it to warrant a new queue, there are more people who do content for loot than those who do it for challenge.
Indeed, this is exactly so. Even Savage Coil gives the same rewards as standard Coil (with added titles). At the very least this would need a Sol reward on par with the Low or High level roulette, I would say about 80-100 tomes.
The thing with this is that only very few people would do it unless the rewards are high - if rewards are high you will see many people complaining about difficulty.
Either way I think this kind of suggestions should be focused on expansion content rather than current content, they won't do major changes to current content other than making stuff even easier so people can move on to Heavensward.
It's hard to say, but I'm sure a lot of people would do it for the bonus tomes. And as far as difficulty is concerned, it's like Savage Coil. It is supposed to be difficult and challenging, that's the point.

Except Savage coil gives you titles as your reward. Now if you were asking for titles as a reward (one title for each challenge-mode dungeon), I might be willing to go with this. Alukah makes a good point because yes, no one will bother with it if the rewards are low. If the rewards are high more people will want to do it but won't have the "skill" to clear it, leading to them complaining about the difficulty. I'll throw in that it also invites classisms and drama/ragequits. Can't say I look forward to any of that.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
I'd certainly do it for a hefty bonus to soldiery. If I were to take a benchmark I'd put it at 150-200 extra sol to run WP at i50-55 gear. I really need to gear up my alt classes![]()

It'd be great if it was more than just the roulette and if it was an optional difficulty level for all level 50 dungeons, have it give twice the tomes they currently give and maybe some extra drops. Though since you know, the only instanced content with relevant gear in the game has to always be Coil, the only other decent thing that could drop would be mats or maybe minions. Maybe they could do something with aetherial gear too, doing runs to get at least i110 aetherial gear with the stats you want would be interesting.
Aside from the challenge just for fun, extra tomes alone would make doing those old dungeons more worthwhile, it's not like people would outright stop queuing for the regular versions either. Admittedly it would take some work and this game is all about cutting costs and corners.

They probably wouldn't add an "Adventurer In Need" Bonus to it though nor solderities / poetics higher than the current high level roulette.

I think its a great idea, but pleaaase let us do it with our friends, I hate how most of the roulettes must be solo. My sister is leveling monk and queuetime is so bad for low level roulette as a melee currently, and I can't help her out as tank.
It's like SE don't understand that mmos are most appreciated when you play with your friends.
Edit:
To people saying it would be too hard so no one would do it.
I think a lot of ppl are like me and thinks the current dungeons are waaaaaaaaay to easy, we want dungeons to be harder, and with this roulette it would be. I would do it daily!

Party Queue only, strict level sync and a relevant time limit (not 90 minutes). Rewards would be a hefy sum of tomes or tokens for glamour/mount.
