Let's have more expressions on our characters during cut scenes!

Looking back at the cut scenes, I couldn't help but notice that we, the player character, can't seem to make any facial expressions beyond a small smile, stoic nod, angry frown, or being in a pained look whenever the Echo occurs. It almost makes our characters look like robots at times.

It would be nice if our characters used more expressive emotions when called for, like smirking/laughing in the Hildibrand scenes. It would make them look more alive and give a sense of character beyond "mule".

It would be nice, indeed. I noticed a lot of NPCs now have eating and drinking animations for their mouths.

Let's be honest though, if I was trying to solve a mystery, and one of my investigators is at best, incompetent and frequently finds himself buried upside-down, waist up into the ground, I'd be a bit more at a loss-of-words or facepalming than laughing. But since we're the audience, it's seen differently as the viewer perspective. Our in-game characters mostly display the snark or "why am I here..." sort of thing.

    Speaking of expressions

    Why aren't mine that big?!

Frankly, I already feel shoe-horned into doing things any character I ran would never do. Stealing the Adamantoise egg in the quest line leading up to Titan, for instance. If this were an actual role playing game, I'd've told the guy where to stick his suggestion that I, the Last Sentinel of the Pard, should do something illegal. But if I'd refused that quest chain, I'd've never progressed any further, so... here we go, being railroaded.

Similarly, I wouldn't have helped evil-overlord in the making Alphinaud recruit a private army that's answerable to no one. And I sure as hell would be talking to Menphilia about all the reasons it's a bad idea for a teenage evil-overlord to have his own army. But... railroading.

Having emotions forced on me as well? Super-railroading.

I don't know about facial expressions - there are already some, and some are overused, like the smiling nod - but it would be good too if our characters weren't standing dumbly all the time.

Not that they can't toe a line and add more at the same time but I remember in 1.0 there were a few cut-scenes where your character does the "I just dropped a dirty coblyn in my pants" and I felt like that was a bit annoying since I didn't "see" my character taking that action. I like the little question boxes though, wonder if they will make any that matter... and how they would go about that (its difficult to do in an MMO, and if the choice are not revoke-able it is a great way to get mad players lol).

You will take your stoic nods and you'll like them!

joking aside, yes I agree for cutscenes and the general interaction scenes with NPCs it would be nice to have some depth of character shown from our ...characters since we don't generally TALK.

Very interesting. I too am getting tired of the oil' "here is my hand holding invisible item." "I accept your invisible item sir."
